I don't know a thing about which Division is going where but Eielson AFB is busier than Grand Central Station with buku KC-10s, C-17s and civvie charter flights coming and going like there's a war on somewhere. Even had two B-52s come through and we never see those around here.

Baghdad huh....that means they will be in Damascus by Christmas, withdrawn with honor by March and on their way to Iran by summer as yet another recipient of export quality democracy begins to circle the drain of the failed states crapper.

At some point, it's like, "Shit or get off the pot."

Obviously, I'm in the "get off the pot" camp, but look at the situation.

Every POTUS since Bush I has at least bombed Iraq, and other than Clinton, they've all gone to war there. The Anglophone Bloc has been fucking with the Middle East since forever. And in the modern USA, the drive to take over the Middle East is totally bipartisan. The Fourth Estate, with their coordinated Islamaphobia subliminals and self-censorship, is totally on board. Hell, Obama came into power as an authentic dove (I think so, anyway), but ten minutes after reading all the intel turned into an imperial hawk on par with Napoleon. I like to blame neocon narcissism and hubris, but the fact is, everyone in the loop wants this badly. And half-assing it isn't going to get it, it just wastes blood and treasure. And if you happen to give two shits about the people who actually live there, well, it doesn't seem to be helping them, either.

Obama's a lame duck. Everyone already hates him except the center-left professional class. We're already halfway committed to WWIII, and frankly, a limited nuclear exchange would cause an extreme Tambora Effect that might mellow global warming. So my guess is that Obama's making a real play for whatever it is the 1% are so desperate to get in the Middle East, no bullshit about freedom this time. God help us all.

The 1st's web page says it is the Headquarters element headed out for a 1 year tour. They have my sympathy and wishes for a safe return.

Should have left Saddam in charge. He got shit done.

Unfortunately the archives only go back to 2004 but I did say at that time, in 2003, that "this is a tribal area and this will be a disaster if we break it".
And here we are.

And now Obama/McCrazy are going to triple down on stupid, and remove Assad.

No blaming the idiot Bush for all this now. Obama saw what happened when Saint Saddam was dirt napped. Then proceeded to remove Qadaffi and Mubarak.

I still want to see this asshole's college grades.

TORONTO — Canada plans to launch airstrikes against the Islamic State militant group in Iraq following a U.S. request and may extend airstrikes into Syria if invited by President Bashar Assad’s government, the prime minister announced Friday.

At the invitation of Assad! The more things change, the more they stay the same.

The US is not asking permission, Canada is.

Canada and the US are like whole different governments and stuff.

I don't think your country has any interest in removing Assad. If they do, they're fools.
