A lot of folks are vitamin D deficient, especially in northern climates. It doesn't cure everything, but it is fairly essential for proper immune function, and vitamin D depletion during winter months is at least proximally involved in the increase in upper respiratory infections during winter months (along with drier air and mucosal membranes).

Americans are fat fucks because they eat too much and move too little. We eat too much because we eat out too much and eat too much processed food, which is typically loaded with extra sugar and fat, because that shit tastes good.
