Trump is an old man and an ex-prez, he won't do time.

Exactly. Occam's razor shit right here. All these people are scummy grifters that would sell their own mother (or country, in the case of Trump-Kushners) for a buck or to avoid jail. How many books came out of this White House before it even ended its term?

Tarkan - This dude's exit was probably as messy as his entrance and his rule. Take a loot at Michael Lewis's "The Fifth Risk" for a taste. They tried to put their sycophants / true believers in from top to bottom.

Trump, et al probably had an already large FBI file before he came into office. Jared was rejected for a top secret clearance. And, if these people really are or were selling state secrets, then I'm ok with them being surveilled by the FBI since that's kinda their job. Every other mook around here wouldn't have had a year and a half of the DOJ asking them nicely to return classified docs.

That's the thing though, all evidence points to the Biden camp as being equally (greater, actually) scummy grifters.

Same with the Clinton admin. The Chinese didn't magically invent MIRVs and small nuclear warheads, that shit was shifted to them via technology transfers enabled by the Clinton admin via Loral and espionage that the Clinton admin turned a blind eye towards - while the PLA was funneling bags of cash to the Clintons with Gore as the bagman - which he was caught essentially red handed in, but used the "no controlling legal authority" defense.

Obama, given his travel to Pakistan when US passport holders weren't allowed to go to Pakistan was probably CIA connected.

The Clintons were CIA connected via Bill Clinton's time as governor in Arkansas in the 80s and the use of Arkansas regional airports (i.e., Mena) as drug smuggling hubs by the CIA.

Bush 43, well, his daddy was Director of the CIA before he was President.

Bush 41 probably kicked off the whole IC involvement in drug smuggling as a way of funding a shadow CIA when Carter neutered the CIA after he came into power in 1976. When Barry Seal was murdered, supposedly by Colombians, he had George Bush's phone number *at the White House* in his possession.

Trump is really the only one that wasn't controlled by the IC coming into office, and they neutered him PQD with ops like Crossfire Hurricane and key plants in his admin.

I'll concede that Trump and his family are grifters, but then the whole fucking establishment RNC, DNC, K-street, the political consultancies, and past and present admins are full of grifters, top to bottom. So the grifter angle isn't unique in any respect.

I think it comes down to Trump wasn't controlled nor was he controllable through normal means (blackmail, threats). Unlike most conventional politicians, he thrives on controversy and scandal. Unlike Jack Ryan, who was shamed into resigning his campaign when running against Obama for US Senator in 2004 (when his divorce records were mysteriously and illegally unsealed and leaked to the media to benefit Obama), Trump didn't give a shit. Alleged to have had sex with porn stars? Great. On video talking about women letting him grab him by the pussy? Even better. Hell, Bill fucking Clinton personally talked Trump into running for President as a joke, as the pied piper candidate to make the Republicans look crazy and to force the rest of the GOP field to define themselves against Trump's craziness. He was never supposed to win the nomination much less the general election. They didn't think he had a chance in hell of winning in 2016, they were wrong, and so worked behind the scenes to hamstring his Presidency coming into 2017, and then strategically cheated in 8-16 precincts in 2020 to swing PA, MI, AZ, GA, and WI to Biden. Remember, Trump increased his vote totals by 12 million from 2016 to 2020. He *increased* his share of the black and Latino vote b 25-33% and 10% respectively from 2016 to 2020 (https://www.vox.com/2020/11/4/21537966/ ... exit-polls, https://www.as-coa.org/articles/chart-h ... l-election). Trump is not only the first incumbent to increase his votes from his first campaign to his 2nd and lose, he did so after increasing his vote totals by over 15%. 19 out of 20 election bellweathers pointed to a Trump win, yet in those handful of precincts the Biden campaign rolled 6 after 6 after 6, in some cases racking up more votes for Biden than were registered to vote. But, most transparent election ever. Interestingly enough, during the recent CA recall process, LA claimed a 27% error rejection rate on ballots, but during 2020, magically, a less than 1% error rejection rate. 2017-2020 the US was the target of an "Orange Revolution".

One of the more alarming recent developments is the evolution of the left from having deep mistrust of the IC to being enthusiastic supporters of the surveillance state and primary instigators between the marriage of corporate domestic surveillance and the intelligence community. In years past, you could count on the right to support some civil liberties, but not others, and the left to do likewise, but the # of civil liberties both sides are supporting universally seems to be shrinking dramatically.

And lastly, an interesting development is the evolution of the "Deep State's" (aka the establishment) views on China and Russia. Russia went from adversary to "partner for peace" back to adversary, and China is definitely starting to be treated as an adversary by our establishment, finally (China has been treating the US as their #1 adversary since literally Tiananmen the 1st Gulf War and been orienting their development around challenging the US since that time).

The point of this isn't whataboutism (

Does the FBI still phone ahead 24 hours before entry for white collar criminals? When an extended family member got in trouble for some creative financing the FBI was kind enough to inform them the morning before. Family members reply was "Ok, 9AM tomorrow. How do you like your coffee?"

Unfortunately, I think it's going to be a while. At least until he's buried in a shallow grave on his NJ golf course.

I hate hearing him being in the media as much now as in the past five years but at least there's a slim hope of accountability / consequences coming forth.

Not gonna happen. The RNC is solidly behind him and gearing up for Trump 2024. I hope that Liz Cheney falls on her sword (again) and primaries him, which would force him into a televised debate with her at which he would be eviscerated. No matter to the die-hard Trump voters. They’ll still vote for him, but the machinations that Trump and the RNC would go through to avoid a debate would be telling.

Truth be told, I’m concerned for Liz Cheney’s safety. I hope that she has good security protection. The Cheney patriarch’s ill-gotten Halliburton gains could certainly pay for that.

She has a better chance of Primary-ing Biden. For some reason the Dems have been more praising of her, anti-choice warmonger, than Biden and Harris (not perfect by any means, but c'mon Dems)

If Cheney wants a "win" against Trump then she's gotta do a "Third Party" "Real Republicans" thing. That would totally fuck MAGA just as Andrew Yang's "third party" of....Andrew Yang? Would fuck the Dems.

Yup. Liz Cheney could be Trump's Ralph Nader.

Let's be serious. The only voters a Cheney 3rd party campaign will attract are Lincoln Project Republicans...you know, the same people that supported and voted Democrat in 2016 and 2020. It would actually help Donald Trump, not hurt him.

As for Liz Cheney's safety, I think the "Deep State" will assassinate Trump long before some crazy right wing fascist does in Liz Cheney. I think if it looks like Trump is going to win in 2024, Trump will get assassinated. You can laugh, but some of you might remember I pointed out here in 2004 that they were grooming Obama to run for President at the DNC convention with his speech back then.

Could be. But there are a few "Don't like Trump but he's better than Democrats" out there. Like you said you were that might be Pro-Cheney.

The margins are already slim and Trump cannot afford a Cheney independent run and Biden cannot afford an independent Yang run.

Who is "they"? The deep state? Isn't Hillary supposed to be part of that? ;-)
It was a good speech, that's for sure. Obama did the two terms. That takes more than good speeches alone.

For sure, it takes more than good speeches. But that the time he was just an obscure Illinois state legislature senator who was running for US Senate. Not exactly a house hold name. And yet he got to give the keynote speech to the DNC Convention. Kind of remarkable.

Anyway, as to who "they" are, it would be the weaponized members of the intelligence community put in place by Obama after the restructuring under Bush following 9-11.

It's not like the FBI or the CIA hasn't been involved in assassinations previously.

It IS best to take a pause now and then to acknowledge that her platforms and voting record is not in our interest. Her commitment to the Jan. 6 investigations and hearings is such a huge RELIEF and people are grateful that a Republican is pushing back. So, she kinda gets a mulligan but there is an expiration date.

When Reagan was governor of California in the ‘60’s he signed the most liberal abortion bill that any state provided. He did his about face when he was fixing to run for the White House to make the Baptists happy. He did put Sandra Day O’Connor on the Supreme Court and she was a staunch defender of Roe v. Wade.

The Democrats then became mealy-mouthed on the issue, avoided it, changed the subject. Clinton to his credit was always vocally pro-choice. Even though some really bad shit started happening: Clinic bombings, assassinations of doctors, on-going harassment of the general public by Operation Rescue its true that the Democrats did little to nothing.

That was the informal "Republicrat" compromise. Democrats don't create a law cementing Roe V. Wade on a Federal level while Republicans were not to make an effort to over-turn Roe V. Wade so both could get to the real business of Trade agreements, Military spending, and Agribusiness subsidies. When the useless Democrats go on and on about "bipartisanship" and "Civil Discourse" that is what they are hoping for, and that is why Cheney is getting praise heaped on her.
Trump spoiled the co-operation that ran the USA since after WWII and they are too narrow minded to imagine a world without it.

Ukraine aid is the last sputter of this world. A world that get 400,000,000 plus small arms and an A-10 training school over there nearly instantly but cannot figure out how to supply tarps to hurricane victims on our own soil.
