Exactly.
It is really done to prey on insecurities. Insecure men fork over cash like no one else.

Bottom line, it's jacked up, it went stupid, but there were a few good points.
James had a dude in Indonesia set up our website for a very long time and he did it for free (we have control of it now, so those days are over). He was still doing what he did here on the BFC and running his mouth here, but he made sure La Cima had a web presence and was not connected to him and his rantings. He was working in Iraq and was giving his BFC login to other dudes who added "color" to the postings that we all remember, so not everything "he" said was actually from him. There was a lot more stuff that we all also remember that was what it was and for most of it there is no defense.
Some of the other blanks that may or may not need filling in are that yes, James sent info to authorities somewhere about Swain. I begged him not to do it but he did it anyway. I told him if he compromised Swain he risked compromising a lot more of us. I was NOT happy about that...and we will file that under "understatements"
In 2014, we ran two missions in Iraq while ISIS was rolling in. James organized everything and had us set up with Peshmerga military folks (one commander had us eat dinner at his home and told us we were from that day forward to be considered "friends that need no invitation to visit"), and Kurdish doctors who flew in from England, to work with us. He arranged for me to be credentialed by Iraqi Health Ministry to be allowed to legally practice in the camps. We used La Cima as the legal non-profit (I didn't know he was faking a non-profit at the time) and we took a butt ton of money to Iraq ( I was nervous carrying 30+K cash on an airplane). With the money raised we bought shelter material/containers and water heaters on round one. On round two we bought a LOT of food to distribute to Yazidi, Christian and Muslim refugees. At minimum it was 4 dump truck loads of food that James organized and I paid for. All of this was while he was running HASF. The other guys listed above (with HASF) went to Iraq and were sold out on helping those who were in need. They were/are a group who did what needed to be done to serve those in need. They got caught up in this mess and one of them lost everything he owned because of it...but their efforts saved lives no matter what James ended up doing. They are honorable men.
A couple of years after Iraq, 2016, James and one of the dudes named came to Honduras an provided security for one of my gigs. There was a legit gang hit 20 feet in front of our team one night and he got us off the X and we made it while a gangbanger died. While there he trained local preachers and teachers on security techniques to keep them out of harm's way. They went through several hours of instruction and practical application of the training. They all came out of it very pleased that James had taught them how to not get killed by MS-13 or Mara-18. He did a really good job and I filmed a bunch of it to show my future team members.
There was an opportunity (2017) to return to Iraq to rescue Yazidi children who had been taken by ISIS into sex slavery/captivity. James submitted a mission plan to someone who just had a movie made about him dealing with human trafficking...who was funded by a dude that has a pretty big radio show (they flew James out to discuss and I have a pic of the meeting)...and initially he approved the mission plan. There were a few stumbling blocks that kicked us (James' plan) out of the running. The bottom line on that is that the stumbling blocks kicked us out of the running but some High Speed guys did the gig...and probably better than we could have done it...and the kids were rescued. As much as I would have loved to have been a part of bringing those kids back, the fact that they were rescued is all that matters.
Shortly after that, James left the reservation. I had a "farewell message" sent to me after the improprieties became evident and I haven't heard from him since. He had made some horribly poor choices and I have suspicions of why he made those choices, but unless I hear from him at some point in the future, which is doubtful, I will never know.
In the end, James made things happen that I could have never made happen. James got us places I could have never gone. James made very poor choices that had major negative impact on many good people. I ran with James and I loved him and he pissed me off all at the same time.
Probably the same thing folks say about me.
None of us wear a halo. Do your best ladies and gentlemen.
Heading to Nam next. See you if I see you.
