I was there in April, most of the stuff to see and do is in the innercircle of Moscow. a good nightclub that I was drag to(cause I don't usually go to clubs) was Propaganda. All the other good things to see shouldn't be hard to find, just go to red square and you'll see it all. The most annoying thing was all the metal detectors and some dunks looking for fights on the streets. Just keep your weapons at home and keep walking when you see the drunks.

i am in Moscow.
propaganda is a good club.
I like one called Che Guevara, live cuban music, good drinks and lots of dancing people. try georgian restraunts, there are lot of them, visit Arbat street, Red Square, Lenin's Tune, Tretyakovskaya Art Gallery, Bolshoi Teatr (a major theatre in Russia), Gorbushka (u can find tons of pyrate CD's 3 dollars each). be careful in subway, watch your wallet.

Moscow is fun. Food sucks. Drinks are cheap. Hookers are everywhere. It's cold most of the time.

This is fun to read before you go.

yes propaganda is good PM me if you want a contact to show you the outer city clubs and sort you out if you party hard. You of course have to visit the usual places. Dont buy the lonely planet for russia/belarus maybe the moscow one is ok but I doubt it. Try to learn the cryllic alphabet before you go, take poo tickets (toilet paper) if you are going on a long day trip. Check out hotels online before you go - they are way overpriced. I cant recommed a good well priced one. You have to ride the metro at least a couple times. Head out to the burbs and meet some people, they are great and not used to tourists. Be prepared to be ripped off if you cant speak russian and come across as a tourist. Ignorance is welcomed and expensive in moscow. If you are not sorted with a visa and invitation let me know and ill post how i did it in a day.

Ignorance is welcome in the Balkans too.I used to have a good laugh with my Bosnian buddy when we went out to the pub and watch all the american diplomats get ripped off blind and charged three times the price for beer..still they probably didnt care.

I just came from Mosow where I spend a week doing sighseeing. The bad part is there is really not that much to see. I stayed at the Hotel Rossija which is situated 250 meters from the Kreml and I could basically see all the moscow landmarks from the balcony. And I agree the food absolutley sucks in Moscow, the only decent meal I got was when I when I went to one of moscows nicer(expensive) resaurants paying 3500 rubles for meal, it was worth it. My recomendation is to not spend more than three days in Moscow if you are sightseeing, divide time to St:Petersburg also.
When it comes to visas have everything in order, my buddy got kicked off the train and deported to Finland, he had to pay the Taxi for both himself and the customs officer that escorted him out of the country.
