Plus wasn't the aide of one of his conspirators murdered by the mafia?

>>>>This week three Gambino crime family members were arrested for the murder of a Greek businessman, Boulis, who sold a casino to top Republican lobbyists Abramoff (currently under inditement) and his partner, Kidan, in 2000. Abramoff was closely involved w/ Delay as a lobbyist The casino money was going to fund Republican candidates.

But the casino deal went bad and Boulis was murdered in Florida in 2001 in what police described as a hit.

How does this tie into Delay? We don't know yet but Abramoff is furious that Delay hung him out to dry and who knows what he has to reveal:

"Everybody is lying," Abramoff told a former colleague. "Those S.O.B.s," Abramoff said about DeLay and his staffers, according to his luncheon companion. "DeLay knew everything. He knew all the details." There are e-mails and records that will implicate others, Abramoff said.

First of all, it's -not- Buzzsaw's point. It's an old Repubican talking point that's meant to emotionally manipulate those who would point out lies and corruption in the government.

isnt it true though? it's fine to point out the flaws with a plan, but after that you've got to present your own plan. democrats have failed to do that, and so these days you get these boneheaded republican ideas always sticking because the dems only naysay without presenting alternatives.

>>>Where are you coming up with the idea that the Democrats don't have a plan? At the end of eight years the Democrats left the country in peace and prosperity. So the Democratic candidate and plans worked out, in spite of opposition from the Republican Congress. Now we're back where we were in '92, with a mess on hands to clean up.

and so these days you get these boneheaded republican ideas always sticking because the dems only naysay without presenting alternatives.

>>>Alternatives to what? For example, I agree half of the Dems did not offer an alternative to the war in Iraq, but half of them did, along with one Republican and one Independent.

to any republican campaign plans, such as no child left behind.

>>>>Is what your really asking is, "Why do the Democrats look so weak? Why didn't they push harder?" If so, it's a good question. I'd love to know the answer.

actually, i was intending it to be more of a statement:

"the democrats look really weak right now. they need to push harder if they wish to compete again."

you tell em you feeling like something important died screaming
you tell em you feeling like something even more important arrived breathing

It was totally my point. I was never sent a list of talking points from either party. But if they use it, they do it because:

1. It's true.

2. It works.

By the way, quit martyring yourself as the champion whistle-blower of government. Your just a partisan chump. You don't have a clue or not whether Delay is guilty of these allegations 9neither do I). But you want him to be.

Fundamentalist, demogague scum from Sugarland. The gall of this kakfuck, from suggesting ethnic cleansing in Palestine to orchestrating BS redistricting in Texas to funnling campaign contributions to his family. He's a candidate for quartering if the option were available. I'm hard pressed to think of a politician as execrable as Tom Delay. As there likely to be more indictments, looks like the Orkin man has finally got his ass in the sling.

Then you aren't thinking very hard. Tom Daschle, Joe Biden, Maxine Waters, Cynthia McKinney, Nancy Pelosi, Diane Feinstein to name a few.

The "BS" redistricting in Texas basically gave Texas representation in Congress similar to how the population votes, the previous redistricting having been done by the Democrats to their obvious favor. Just more bullshit whining by the Democrats. "Don't do what we do! Waaaaa! We'll go to Oklahoma!"

Come on Tarkan, this is your same sorry-ass tactic. Instead of demanding accountablity from DeLay you try to divert attention toward the Democrats. Are you really that militant of a partisan that you refuse to see how immoral of a man DeLay is? The fact that Tom DeLay is an unethical and arrogant thug doesn't change because of what Pelosi or Biden may have done. So quite with the diversionary tactics and face the fact that DeLay deserves everything that is coming to him, God willing.

Not thinking that hard? I'm not aware of any of the above qualifying in high marks for the three characteristics that make Tom DeLay the unique scumbag that he is: a) unscrupulous venality and corruption, b) fundamentalism, c) demogaguery.
A left leaning politician who comes closest to DeLay, would be Jacques Chirac, qualifying in high margins for venality and demogaguery.

C'mon. Delay is really in a class of his own. More indicments to come will be proof of what a unique character we're graced with.

Very creative redistricting. My area is connected by an extremely thin silver that bypasses Lubbock, connecting us to Midland/Odessa, that oh so cleverly allowed them make congressional seats even more non-competitive, a boon for incumbents.
I'm not interested in tit for tat politics and justifying bad politics of the present in response to bad politics in the past. Like other states, Texas could of adopted a bipartisan council to determine redistricting, but too many Texan partisans were content with zero sum politics and allowing incumbents to be more secure in their seats.

Where are you guys getting the idea that a political party needs a viable alternative plan to win an election?

The strategy of negative campaigning has worked so well for both parties in America that political tacticians from other countries are starting to adopt it.

Thankfully this hasn't happened YET in Canada....but when we do it will be like any other 'American problem' that crosses our border albeit a little more civilized.
