Both Penta and Tarkan have been using the irony lately.

Now that's ironic.

I've been using irony on this board since you were just cutting your teeth learning to read the children's edition of the Guardain. Seriously, I've read some pretty whacky things you've posted before, so it raised an eyebrow considering your unpaid career as an America-hater.

I was drawing attention to the fact that I do not automatically oppose anything the US proposes, regardless of other considerations, as you and many others seem to think.
Shes never interfered with me. I have no complaints about her.
Same here.
Mega ditto.
I met her once and I found her to be a nice lady. Not kookey in any way.
Penta has always been gracious, kind and very sane in all my interactions with her.

It is absolutely imperative that Turkey joins the EU. It will show the boneheads who want a separate Islamic Caliphate that Islam can be integrated within the developed world....successfully.

Ah yes, how could I forget the Mediterranean Economic Hub...

I don't particularily like the Austrians either. But this to me isn't about people, it is about economy.
I honestly think we have already absorbed more than our share of countries depending on agriculture and with large populations.

Think the military holds many more strings (of power, not the thong kind) in Turkey than the clergy.

Nevertheless, EU is/was originally intended to be a community of monetary, rather than moral, values. Objections re: human rights are IMO more about window-dressing.
The detention and "transferral" of Kurd leader Öcalan is a good example about us conveniently looking the other way.

The Austrians are allies with the Croats.Forget Turkey
the sooner we let Croatia in the sooner europe can establish a quasi-fascist empire.

Why hasn't anyone suggested letting Israel join the EU?

Yes. Please.
Israel is the single largest beneficiary of US overseas monetary aid, isn't it?

They already compete in the Eurovision Song Contest.
They won with a transexual.

The same reason they didn't give the Jewish victims of Nazi Germany a portion of Germany as a Jewish state.
