A religious philosophy itself can pose no threat, it is the fanatical/murderous follwers that can. However, the number of Muslim radicals in "Islamic Armies" is nothing compared to China's massive, advanced military.

Besides, I hate communists.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't OBL issue his fatwah against America, first? Didn't they perform a long series of terrorist attacks against America, before America responded in earnest? Syria, Iran, the KSA and Pakistan have all supported, gave training, harbored and/or finanaced global Islamic terrorism. Let them reap what they sow.

Funny, I was going to say these radical conservatives. (I know "radical conservative" is an oxymoron.) Sounds like the greatest threat to America is ourselves. If we are not careful, we might become so divided that we rip apart like an over inflated balloon.

We have met the enemy and it is us...or however that goes. I think the biggest threat is the vapid xenophobia of a consumer culture that lives vicariously through media....

As for outside threats...hmmmm....not ideology so much but as more of the world imitates western consumer patterns the conflict will be over resources (ie. when the Chinese have 3 car garages and all drive SUVs)

Of course ideology will be the excuse for driving perception of threat.
