Real men don't have to debate which type of liquor is better, they just fucking drink it and stop whinging about being a real man.

Kurt, that Laphroig is definitely an acquired taste. I've tried it two or three times now (free) and can't past the idea that I'm chewing a bit of bark. I had an old roommate that swore by the stuff though but he was a bit of a yippie.

Update:

Second glass tonight and I like it a bit better but still easily prefer McCallan and Balvenie.

Some good top shelf Tequila for me if we're talking straight up. Scotch is foul, foul stuff.

Dalwhinnie or Cardhu.

I like Tequila but there is no way Beaner Brandy is better than Scotch.

The Glen Grant Speyside is a good choice.
I myself prefer the Islay Black Bottle.
It's a blend rather than a single malt, but its faintly smoky taste lingers beautifully on the palate.

And at US$25 a fifth, yon's an affordable glimpse o' paradise, laddie.

Happy Christmas and Good New Year, friend Kurt.
And to you all.

I seriously need to have a white liquor party. So many people just settle way to much...

Rum is the best. Pure cane sugar baby. None of those things that grow up there in the cold. :-)

Johnny Walker – Color up to your budget

The reason I started and continue to drink JW is because you can find it anywhere in the world – from the Ritz in New York to Baghdad to some tiny village in Indonesia.

I have never had a bad Johnny Walker (any color) but its never something I crave. But like Sam Adams and Starbucks I am glad it exists when I need it.

I have not tried Green or Blue yet, and I suspect I will not be buying a bottle of Blue anytime soon.

I did buy a bottle of Suntory Yamazaki "Single Malt" (aka Japanese Scotch) and it is good but it does not have the memorable character of real scotch but I do not regret buying it.

my booze cabinet is nearly bare these days, the only scottish whisky i have right now is laphroaig, which i adore. lately i've been keeping a stash of lovely kentucky whiskeys, and some irish crap for when i have guests.

So I got Laproiag and I am not as impressed as Lightstalker is with it. To me it's type of woody taste is not bad but I cannot call it good either

Such blasphemy!...
I'm not really a fan of Speyside malts although I probably wouldn't pass on a we dram of Glenlivet. I wouldn't buy Macallan because I dont like soctch that smells like carnations and nail varnish remover. But hey, whatever rocks your boat...some people like sniffing paint thinner

Ill stick to my Islay malts thanks very much. Try a 12yo Lagavulin Kurt, its the closest thing you'll get to licking a campfire without burning your mouth.

Scotch = Nasty tasting watered down crude liquor that otherwise smart people drink to socially mesh with the ruling elite of a pretend world that appears real to many people.
you what??.. everlear??.. the shit college kids make fuckin jello shot's out of?... get the fuck out of here.
The world would be a much cleaner place if blind people used brooms instead of canes
