Islamic Justice: 16-Year-Old Girl Lashed 101 Times For Conceiving After Rape

"A 16-year-old girl who was raped in Bangladesh has been given 101 lashes for conceiving during the assault.

The girl's father was also fined and warned the family would be branded outcasts from their village if he did not pay.

According to human rights activists, the girl, who was quickly married after the attack, was divorced weeks later after medical tests revealed she was pregnant.

Her rapist was pardoned by the elders."


In the Muslim world women are treated like chattel, and only by escaping to a non-Islamic state can they dream of achieving equality and freedom.

"Honor killings" take place even in Western countries, this is the barbaric and odious practice of a father or brother killing a female family member who has brought dishonor to Islam. A female can be guilty of dishonoring Islam by doing something as innocuous and harmless as wearing non-Islamic attire or flirting with a school friend.

American Muslims can't give full expression to the savagery of their faith without running afoul of our laws, but in Muslim countries women are flogged and killed on a regular basis for the slightest of perceived transgressions.

A 16-year-old girl who was raped by an adult was lashed 101 times because she had the misfortune to become pregnant as a result of the attack. To the Western mind this is injustice and insanity, but to brainwashed Muslims this is justice and the will of Allah.

The rapist was pardoned by the elders, after all in Islamic society raping a woman is equivalent to kicking a dog or jaywalking.

In the UK some elements of Sharia law are tolerated in the name of cultural diversity, but we must never (ever) succumb to Islamic insanity.

The author is a caucasian British female anthropologist that spent about one year living in the poorest district of Lahore, specifically researching sex trade workers. The cultural aspect of the "Dancing girls" predates even the early 1800s Sikh kingdom in Lahore, and doesn't pay much attention to Sharia law. The double standard of behavior for men vs. women is very much in place.

Been to Bangladesh and its the only country that I have been to that I thourally hated. Even israel was tollreable. After 4 days I went to the bus depot and asked anyone for a ticket to the border, after a couple of hours of that I finally found someone who could help me, or so I thought. My ticket to the border was a ticket to Bagora! Another night in that nasty vile country. I would sooner get a hair cut and a real job before goin back to that place.

I grew up in the Phillipines, and the same thing is true in most macho/conservative cultures around the world - young men are expected to 'sow their wild oats' (with a nudge and a wink, even if there is social approbation for those who are 'caught red-handed' in adultery or fornication) while women get locked-up at home...

the basic reason is biological, a boy can sleep around with not much more to show for his troubles than a curable case of VD, but if a girl gets pregnant, her ability/trustworthiness to bear children with the father's/tribal lineage is diminished - you can argue with that, but that's true just about everywhere outside of Europe and NA - the macho attitude is usually "most/all women are whores, but my mother and my wife are saintly/chaste 'daughters of Mary'"

logic doesn't have much to do with it, 'namus' or sexual honour - an Arabic word which goes back to the Byzantinean/Greek 'nomos' for law - is more important to most tribal peoples around the world than what Western people think of them, and the more there is condemnation of those barbaric peoples' the more determined many people are to see sexual chastity and social morality as the core of their culture and religion...

Maybe that used to be true back in the olden days, but they've come up with a cure for that! In the same way that you don't have to die from an venereal infection anymore, thanks to antibiotics (unless your religion is too fucking uptight to use modern medicine) you don't have to have a kid anymore because of sex. Here's the new not-so-holy trinity: Condoms, birth control pills, abortion. Fullproof. Women can be equal to men only in societies that embrace these three things, for the reason you brought up. But there is no logical reason not to embrace them. Plenty of illogical ones, though.

Thus, I have to agree with Buzzsaw, any society that would rather kill or beat its own citizens rather than open a fricking Planned Parenthood is definitely uptight.

Honor killings are rarely islam-related. They are usually dishonoring their family rather than the religion.

Generalization of the Muslim world as a whole is pretty bad journalism, considering the "Muslim world" doesn't entirely work like that. It varies country to country. Some Muslim countries are socially liberal, and some are old fashioned.

To the Western mind this is injustice and insanity, but to brainwashed Muslims this is justice and the will of Allah.

Implying all Muslims are brainwashed and think like that? I have never met anyone in my life, Muslim or not, who thinks this, or any form of crime as just a "will of Allah". To me and everyone I know the rapist is definitely a criminal in this case, while the victim is, well, the victim.

Islamic insanity? People seem to forget that the true, unmodified Islam is one of the most sane and peaceful religions. It wasn't until recent years (1950's +) that shit started going down hill. And it's mainly in countries (or people) where people are generally uneducated.
