Have to agree with the Swain on this one.
Like the dopey dorises, who within hours of de-bussing in Kabul have just got to buy a (always cheap shit Pakistani copy) Pakol and cotton dismaal and then proceed to cut about the place wearing them, confusing and/or annoying the locals who expect a doris to be in a Burka or at least in long skirted suit & scarf, but not in man drag.
Also, a 6'4" blonde mate of mine in Iraq, whilst working semi-covert in the recce team decided to go native when the IPA threatened to strip off the dark tinting on our car windows. So, matey buys a huge white dishdasha, gets it tailored so, like a hospital theatre gown, it is put on over the body and velcroed down the back. Underneath he has body armour, chest rig & mags, radio, 9mm and other bits and bobs. He ends up looking like some giant mad scientist, and gets the hump when I tell him so.
Then the daft cunt tries to save his outfit by putting on a shemagh, he looked so conspicuous that our local employees were queuing up to have a laugh at him. Finally he gave up and just went out in his boots, trousers, shirt and chest rig, at least it was all dark coloured.
Those cunts knew us and our motors anyway, so whatever we wore we got dicked every time we went down the town.
EDIT: I did buy local scarves in both Iraq & Afghan, they made/make great table covers and dust covers for the laptop
Cheers
