If you venture up towards the Cap Haitien area, be sure to see Christophe's Citadelle. It jars the senses, like most everything in this remarkable country.
Also, please be very careful traveling east beyond Limonade towards the border with the Dominican Republic.
The bus I was on took a wrong turn coming back from Milot, and we got boarded by some "police" who were "lookeeng for draugs eh kawnterrfeet mohnee."
They confiscated my Atenolol pill bottle in the process.
i've always wondered how the "gendarme" handled an Atenolol overdose.
Must have been real scary to have your BP plummet and your heart slow down that much.
