Order guns online and have them delivered piece by piece

Postby Kurt » Fri Jul 20, 2012 5:21 pm

apparently.

But you gotta get tor and then convert real dollars to bitcoins and then wait two weeks as parts of your gun or bazooka are mailed to you for you to assemble.

Or you could just build your own AK47. The main body (called the receiver) is what the ATF tracks and those can be made from sheet metal using a press and a drill. The rest is just "machine parts".

Wait until 3d printers become more widely available. Especially the kind that can manufacture metal parts (yes, they exist).

Yeah, when that technology gets really good it's going to make life really interesting for people who want to ban some things and prevent "unauthorized copies" of others. It'll be like Pirate Bay but for physical objects. Print your own polymer pistol?

As it happens, Pirate Bay and other p2p sites are already branching out into 3d printer designs available online (there's quite a cottage industry for plastic items that can be manufactured at home).

You don't say ;)? I am actually heavily invested in this technology. Super disruptive.

We're still probably about 20 years from "killer app" status but it's fascinating all the same...

It's still a nascent technology, but it's starting to "hockey stick" all the same. Maybe like personal computers in the late '70s.

You can legally make any gun you want already - you buy all of the non-gun parts (barrels, grips, stocks, bolt, firing pin, ect) online (legally) and then mill your own receiver from a blank

Plus in states like Virginia Person to Person sales don't even require ID

But RE the above article - "People can buy illegal weapons over the internet!" is that really new big news?

Buy guns online and have them shipped to you? I have been trying to find that for years and never have. I even hit up our Philipino Knife Spammers to try to see if they could do it and no luck. Perhaps I was just looking in the wrong place.

Bitcoins, ahahahhahahaha
When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies? To surrender dreams - -this may be madness; to seek treasure where there is only trash. Too much sanity may be madness! But maddest of all - -to see life as it is and not as it should be.

Making ammunition go bang is very easy but making ammunition is hard. So is transporting ammo, hypothetically. Chemical propellant cartridges pose so many problems that until we have an easily-fabbed and reliable rail gun or PCP device that can expel common uniformly-manufactured but unregulated and easily-available projectiles like .50cal ball-bearings or even AAA batteries at significant speeds, powered by something ubiquitous like electricity or compressed air, it's all a bit pointless for true scarcity or survival situations. Korean hunting air rifles may well be the design to examine and follow.

Call me old-fashioned/paranoid but if I (hypothetically) would be in the market for (hypothetical) small arms or it's (yeah, yeah, you get it) ammo, I'd take my chances with some local black marketeer (odds of them being informants are pretty low here) through a single phone call and a single, cash-in-hand, person-to-person meet-up rather than go through the trouble of acquiring access to a tor network, getting valid e-money, finding a seller that isn't a scammer and having my contraband sent safely to me via postage or delivery services.
