Dar es Salaam

I have a few days and nights to kill in Dar es Salaam. Can anyone recommend a centrally located hotel (clean, in the $100 or less category) that is near to some bars, restaurants, live music venues, etc.?

How dangerous is the city?

Stay at a backpackers hostel.

It's dangerous. Standard rules apply.

You are a fuckin mong. I was in Dar a year ago and had a good time even though the place is kinda boring. I stayed at the local Y, cheap and cheerful but with your budget you have more options. Food is alright and beer is passable by African standards. Smokes are raunchy.
Im reallly fuclimg pissed but fespite that I can still hit a tarfet at 1000m plus. mayVRVe bnot tonight but it qint beyond the wit if man. Nowhammy.

I know the law. And I have spent my entire life in its flagrant disregard.

It ain't really a bad place and ain't a total shit pit like Addis or Bamako. Lots of people of Indian decent insuring good food for the most part. Zanzabar is just a few hours away, good diving and boozin.

Head out to the coastal area, the Q-Bar or Maisha are usually hopping. Just try and leave without someone on your arm......
