anybody who ever spent 2 seconds in afghanistanland, deep down can't be surprised. just wasn't gonna happen. at least not like we dreamed it would. and there were plenty of dreamers.

you know it's over when they start making movies about it starring Sarah Palin (a.k.a. Tina Fey) doing The Taliban Shuffle

It was over before it began.
For the US to think it had a chance in The Graveyard of Empires will go down in history as the monumental folly it was.

We could have won if we had remained focused on military objectives, aka killing leadership and punishing AQ. As soon as it became a Euro centric disco in Kabul and BAF, things began to slip. Once Iraq became the center of military career gravity it was lost.

let's face it, Rumsfeld was right it. Hit it hard, fuck off, repeat as nec. The US State Department and Tony Blair is more to blame than anyone in this debacle.

The war has cost at least $1 trillion, huh?
I dunno how much a nuke woulda cost, but it sure wouldn't've cost $1 trillion!

Rumsefeld shoudda been allowed to nuke it from outta space!
We wouldn't have ISIl, AQ, or anyone else now.
It worked against the Japs in WWII, so we know it woulda worked against Talibanistan!

We turned horrible, raping imperialists into cell phone making pacifists with just two nukes. Imagine what a score of them could do for that useless space between europe and east asia.

I don't believe the Japanese are pacifists. They've just imposed a century long operational pause. Krauts same same.

"It would have worked if only X had happened instead of Y." This piece, along with many of the comments, is just more of the same. There must be some psychological benefit in blaming someone besides the enemy for a loss. That would be interesting to study. Because even if X happened, the Taliban live there and care what happens to the government, while the USA is 12,000 miles away and cares about who can make some money off the situation. Not really the best setup.

Cake and ice cream being served in the chow halls was a sign things would go south. We are a nation of fat effeminate liberals, riding on our past. Crying sailors on the tv, next potential president barking. I don't know about where you guys live but here the people are laughing at our decline.

Why do you hate Freedom???
Nuking Talibanistan from outta space would the guarantee of freedom that you, Obama, and the liberal tyranny that you wish to impose would deny the freedom seeking people of America!
