Everything kind of went downhill after the Mexican-American War.

When exactly was the last time America won a war outright (not counting the American Civil War)?

Huh? This is proof that liberal homos like you are too dumb for words.
We won the Cold War, and we won the war in Iraq and we won the war in Kosovo. There's plenty more where that came from.
Maybe your want to take you twisted liberal head out of you patchouli stinking boyfriend's ass and try reading, assuming your not totally illiterate.

I'm not sure what role Serbia played in the Cold War and in Iraq, but I'm pretty certain you didn't win the war in Kosovo.

Huh? Serbia?
They started it all when they shot Bismark. Most of it anyways. That started the military industry revolution that helped America become the great world power that it is today. Ironic, isn't it? A bunch of commies helped America become great.

The economic war, the cultural war, the intellectual war...of course we stand on the shoulders of many giants.

I suppose if you count Iraq as a win, then the bar is set pretty low.

I suppose if you count Haiti as a war, then you basically have no bar.

most importantly the emotional war.

not so sure how we're fairing on that front lately - but it seems we are in the grip of a worldwide pity party - and there's no winning in that!

God knows how I hate a lose/lose.

how do you define victory?

nuking Japan - twice - to annihilate their Emporer God... and then sending them Deming?

west/United Germany ultimately becoming the powerhouse of Europe?

victory to me is that...and that the Vatican, Venice, and Florence weren't blown to hell.
