Syria: ISIS military structure

"Broadly, ISIS's military structure is broken down into three: Farqa (division), Liwa (brigade) and katiba (battalion).

According to the chart seen by The Jerusalem Post, which outlines the structure of a brigade, each brigade consists of 4 battalions. The brigade is headed by an emir (commander) who has two deputy emirs, an administration official as well as a shura council (consultative council).

In addition, each ISIS brigade has two administrative divisions: office administration and a field administration.

Tamimi, a Syria researcher who collects and analyzes leaked ISIS documents, told The Jerusalem Post that “for example, within the office administration is a division responsible for food provision and cooking, consisting of 10 people. While in the field administration, there are 7 people responsible for media.”

Another aspect covered by the administrative division of a brigade was that of the “affairs of the mujihadin.”"

The head shed is inside the Saudi government, QM is the Obama government

Ever since Arab Spring, as horrible and bloody as all of this recent bout of crazy has been, I find something amusing about the thought of live tweeting revolts like they're watching the walking dead.

Makes me wonder if teenage Octavius would have done the same following his uncle Gaius to Spain.

My computer viewed that URL/PDF with a jaundiced eye for about 5 minutes and then told me to find a new interest.

Looks like fluency in Chinese dialects might be an up and coming MOS for ISIS' next job fair:

Yeah right.

For them, a Brigade can be "just a tad" below the 2,000 or so men usually falling under that designation.

The understatement of the year is that these names are in no way indicative of their strengths or really even their structure. Names intended to give the appearance of being something they are not.

You are better off looking at a biker gangs "Club" and "Chapter" than a Brigade and Battalion for the organization. But ISIS is not nearly as good as biker gangs.

ISIS structure is driven by taxation, transportation and digestion. They simply can't field that many people without a steady flow of dollars and food. When things get tight they stiff their hosts but those bullets aren't going to buy themselves. As they get killed off they are on their own.

The BAM Katibas are much larger but still dont' have logistics or even decent medevac. Its a long two hour drive back to Misrata and there are only about two dozen beds. Once they fill up they stop fighting. When they are flown out to Turkey, the start fighting again.

Are CIA handlers still working with ISIS or was Evan McMullin one of the last batches?
I'd whore myself out just one more time if I knew who to screw to get out of this grind.

ISIS is a name designed to confuse. The rank and file are all eager stupid cannon fodder with the leadership hiding out to avoid bugs plat. In a few months ISIS will move back into its non cadastral role and we will see lots of things blow up. But they will always be a tool for destruction, not a workshop for building anything.
