Are you really in Seattle? New York leftists have nothing on the assholes that run seattle.

And yeah. The amazon thing is bad deal for New York, but they’re desperate and willing to pay for a headcount to keep the Ponzi scheme going. Nothing new. But it will be great theater to watch the lunatic left go after the limousine liberals. Bezos just finished a street fight in downtown Seattle with the loony left, yes? And bezos won?

Live in AZ now, and have for a few years.

In Seattle there is a head tax on tech workers to make the "tech companies pay for the damage they do to the city" WTF WTF.

In Seattle if you have a sidewalk in front of your business you are forced to pay the sidewalk tax. If you want to put up a sign for your business you have to “rent” the airspace from the city by the month. Seattle also has numerous taxes based on the monthly gross dollars generated regardless of the costs incurred.

But my favorite was the road usage tax. The business owner had to pay this tax so that his employees had the “right” to use the public roads to drive to work. Never mind that we already cover that in property taxes which are high as hell in Seattle. The road usage tax was based on the number of hours your employees worked and had to be paid every six months. You could spend a couple of days adding subtracting multiplying and dividing trying to figure out how much money to send these parasitic morons. I always just made it up and sent them fifty bucks. Fuck them. Anyway, one of bill gates neighbors sued them for double taxation and won and they had to refund three years of that debacle.

Terrible place to do business.

The "pinkos" have it right. $2.5 billion in incentives to go to LIC which is served by only one train, already the most crowded in the city.

The other Pinko that has it right is Bernie Sanders. Sub par wages for Amazon warehouse workers are then supplemented by Food Stamps or other taxpayer handouts. The real reason the mega rich tend to be more socialist than, lets say the owner of a plumbing supply company or someone who delivers drywall, is that they get supported on every level by the state and it's taxpayers, from trade treaties, to sports stadiums to even supplementing shit income. (or as Trump is right in pointing out having taxpayers pony up the loss the USPS has for each Amazon package delivered with their agreement with the USPS)

And Bezos is not going to be looking for Machine Learning and AI people from within NYC, he is going to bring them in from elsewhere, why? Because Machine Learning and AI are fluffy words that are really coded for "we are not going to hire some people" or "we are going to H1B the shit out of this." Tech people fully capable of learning AI concepts will be shut out as unqualified.

Funny story, I do investigations now for a "Foundation" that touts the benefits of certain agricultural products for background checks on new hires. I have figured out a way to navigate the verification of India's education system and as far as I know I am the only person in the US who is able or willing to do this. Why willing? Because if you hire a person with a fake degree in AI from India it is the liability of the faker but it is one of the few legit ways to get an H1B very fast since it can be proven that not many people know AI or Machine learning, so they hire people who also do not, but for a lot less.

You are truly correct. Much to think about.
