Close the airport in Auckland, isolate and treat a handful of cases, and kick up snow in celebration of skiing down the bunny slope without falling.

Good to see you too. Should I presume most of the old time flaggers have become tragic victims of covid-19?

Catching syphilis by participating in a BFC link up, in some shit hole of a country, is better than taking a dirt nap because you caught the Rona from some old lady at the grocery store.

Your mileage may vary on how you get syphilis downloaded into you at said BFC link up. We're woke here.

JITW had to slow down a bit due to age.

Back at you bro.

Been wearing the mask for a couple of weeks, nose hasn't fallen off yet. I never clapped for no nurses, they get paid to do their job. Lock-down has been great for pruning the dead wood from social circles. Kinda hate the "all in this together, let's smile more" BS, don't take it personal but like any honest and sane adult I'd rather see a couple of billion randos croak slowly than have one of my (very few) loved ones be infected. Drinking a bit less and smoking a bit more since March, nothing dysfunctional. Video game back log is nearly done. Weather is hot, house is cool, work from home isn't too bad because you get to do it naked.

Things could definitely be worse.

Life went back to normal here in Tunisia early June after a harsh 10 week lockdown...with only 50 deaths!

But then they opened the airports (and allowed places like France to send people in with no testing) and bang, over 1000 new cases, and now we're back to having to wear masks in public. Some towns have already been shut off. Looks like the second wave is going to lead to another lockdown. This is not doing wonders for my efforts to write the Bradt Travel Guide to Tunisia!

Life living in the sticks has it's benefits but the numbers in this part of the world are going up bigly. School holidays and winter coming up, local duds just follow the French decisions half the time. I do not really care personally if/when the lock-down returns, other folks are bound to feel different about it.

The lack of driving south to get cheap butter and gas seems to not have made a significant dent in people's mentalities here. Every single brewery has spent scads of cash on a quaint outdoor patio, blocking off parking spots. Indeed they were fly in the summer months but now the rains are a-comin' and I worry for the overextended microbreweries who thought it would be a great idea to spend another ten grand on a patio just to keep things moving for a few more months. Soon it'll all be rain soaked lumber and they'll be stuck peddling six packs again.

Covid-19 cases are rising pretty rapidly here. We just got hit with another curfew here in Tunisia: 9pm to 5am weekdays and 7pm to 5am weekends. Runs for the next two weeks. Boooooo!

Things just exploded here in the last couple of days. Numbers were rising slowly, then to his week they nearly doubled. People are getting complacent. Local govts are responsible for public health but aren't nearly as competent as the feds. It's time Mutti called them all to Berlin for a spanking.

The anti-Maskers are rioting here as well.

https://bklyner.com/harold-heshy-tischl ... inal-past/

This is from the police precinct known as "Fort Surrender" because the station has been trashed by rioters 3 times in the past 40 years and back in 2006 was the most recent time they did so.

When they stormed the police station back in 2006 cops were sitting at their desks and just raised their hands up in the air to show that they were not about the shoot the rioters.

https://crownheights.info/general/1922/ ... n-protest/

I live in a real holy roller churchy neighborhood and we had a crazy high infection rate back in April, like over 33%. Turns out the worst thing you can do is sit in an enclosed space for 6 to 8 hours and sing, dance and shout. After their congregations started to die they stopped gathering, used Zoom to get possessed by the Holy Spirit and now my zip is at less than 2% (up from less than 1% two weeks ago).
The charismatic pastors realized you cannot fleece your flock if they are dead and there own greed helped reduce the spread.

Now the Hassidim are split into Pro Mask and Anti-Mask with the Anti-Maskers beating the shit out of Pro Maskers, which is odd since they had such a staggering death rate back in April that their local newspapers ran out of paper because the obituary pages were too long. So they had to print two editions; a News edition and an obituary edition. The people hardest hit were elderly rabbis who then drew others to mass funerals and then more got sick, etc. etc.

There is speculation that much of this is between two warring factions of Satmars. The Rabbi Shortage has created opportunities for the younger than 50 year old rabbis to start raking in cash, but they have to get supporters. Before Rabbis used to argue about things like laws of succession or whether or not someone could cut down a mulberry tree in their yard if it had not bore fruit yet, but now with masks and gatherings they have something solid to fight over.

Unlike the Holy rollers in my neighborhood who would tend to stop going to church if everyone died and thus cause the pastors (who run a church as well as an LLC that rents out space to the church) to become impoverished, the rabbis see it as only effecting the elderly and their high rate of birth in their communities would assure some financial prosperity if they can come out on top of this.

The Satmar anti-mask rioting is much more serious than the BLM rioting and associated looting, and that is what is causing the infection rate to rise in Brooklyn.

In Queens it is driven by Indian and Bangladeshi weddings.
