Iceland is facing a round of lockdowns after getting rid of covid this last summer

It was spread by a pair of french tourists that broke their quarantine and went partying downtown

For my job they are putting up a qurantine bubble in a hotel with people needing to wear masks in public places where you can't social distance

This is terrible. How do they know it was the French tourists? What was their punishment?

they broke their mandatory 5 day quarantine to go partying downtown in the bars

they can track how the virus gets between people with high tech genetic research and it got traced back to them

one of the best tool we have used is contact tracing and massive testing

That’s a slap....when I came back to Canada in July, I was given a mandatory 14 day quarantine and threatened with either 3 years in jail or $1 million fine.

My parents live in Wisconsin. I really think Nigeria would be safer for them but Nigeria is not allowing people from Shitholes to come over there with their diseases.

Another friend of mine in Wisconsin owns a Newspaper. She wrote a column detailing the COVID-19 infection rates and got death threats from some and demands from others that she include historical influenza death rates compared to COVID rates that do not include Co-Morbidities or deaths from those over 60 years old.

But they want Influenza rates to include those categories.

So yep, USA is full of dipshits.

Pretty sure we hit 230k today.

Yeah it seems that 2020 has eroded basic logic with many. Personally I’ve felt that the health department should have a strong say to determine the degrees to which we socially distance or close down this or that based on ICU capacity. There could be millions of cases, but as long as people who really need treatment are able to receive treatment, then carry on.

What I don’t get though is how politicized Covid has been made, as if being a Republican and also concerned for your health are mutually exclusive, or being a dem and not too concerned about wearing a mask is an impossibility. As for mask wearing, if a place requires you to wear a mask, put the thing on and shut the fuck up. Americans sure love a good drama....and God knows everyone sure loves to watch a good drama.

Fuck my fuckin life!

Well at least I am sat down the pub so it aint all bad.

Enjoy the pub while it lasts.....soon we’ll have to take up drinkin alone. This could be a good business during these times, selling alcohol. Throughout the entire pandemic, I swear I haven’t seen a licor store without an obscene lineup, and this includes at 11:00am on a Tuesday! 2020 has exposed our priorities!!

Didn't get implemented over here after the first wave, even if they seemed to work well in parts of Asia, didn't bother to read up on the excuses that were made, not living on a non-tropical island probably didn't help ;-)
By now it's way too late for it, just last-ditch efforts to keep the ICUs from getting swamped and the medical professionals from burning out.

Being at heart an optimist, this can only help better/streamline our responses to future calamities both as a country and as a member of the EU.

one of the best things to happen here is that the goverment stepped to the side and handed the response over to doctors, scientists and specialists so the message has been super clear and the whole community is on board instead of it turning into a culture war wearing masks and trying to crowd together to celebrate your freedoms to die from preventable diseases and spreading them to other people

It's weird. Even people who understood and appreciated freedoms always knew there would be exceptions. One thing that should stop freedom of association is a pandemic. The limitations should last until the danger has passed.

People bitched about rationing and prohibiting travel during WWII as well in the US but after VE Day rationing ended fairly quickly and the bitching stopped and was pretty much forgotten. (of course FDR had no problem locking up critics then .. he was a total dick to the Japanese especially)

The only thing I voted for in this election is a reasonable COVID-19 response. By reasonable I mean by my definition of reasonable which is nationwide mask and travel mandates, seclusion of dipshit areas where they don't follow those guidelines. It's a deadly disease, we know very little about it and what it is like when someone gets sick again from it (evidence is pointing to the fact that the second infection is worse, but it is hard to track who might be infected twice and not gotten symptoms the second time). I also support mandatory testing, followed by mandatory vaccinations when one is available.

Then, maybe Iceland will allow me in. I also would like to visit my parents again in Wisconsin without worry about infecting them or my wife because of something I picked up from an anti-masker while on a plane or stopping to pee along i-80

How's about a tattoo on the wrist of every COVID-19 infected?

How about zero flights from China being allowed into the U.S.? You know, what the Citrus Caesar tried to do before Pedo Biden and Kamel Toe started screaming rasisss and sheeiit.

But go ahead and keep blaming Orange Julius. It's all you have at this point.

Tomorrow your excuse will be the Dirlewanger Brigade shut down your local Starbucks. It's getting fooking lame, Kurt. And people like you who have had legit complaints about abusive govt in the U.S. in the past, even from another side of the political spectrum, are fooking sick of it.

Every White European man who doesn't cuck himself out is a raciss and a Naaatizzii. We get it. Blah..blah..blah.

Just curious...If Nigeria is so fooking awesome.....Why did your wife's family come to the U.S.? You know, this raciss, KKK. Neo-Nazi nation we all live in.
