2708 deaths per day from COVID in the US

and climbing.

SInce this is nominally a travel board, those of us who have travelled will notice that when you go to some countries old people are a rarity.

If it was not for COVID restrictions I think we all could pick a country, and I could fly my 52 year old ass and instantly be the oldest person in any room I chose to enter.

If I flew to Port Au Prince (4 to 5 hours) and then took a cab to Cite Soleil I would be the oldest person among about 100,000 people. Children would not know what to make of me. In fact they might assume that grey hair and making noises when exiting car is something white people do, not old people because they have no concept of "over 50" or even "over 35".

So, a place that is filled with only old people usually is relatively prosperous. A place that has none is a shithole.

This is a step to the shitholification of the US.

Also COVID is worse for fat people. so I am supprised that is not worrying us more either but again, we are a country with an obesity problem that actually hates obese people. So that might fit in with everything we have going on.

Don't forget about how expensive health care is...

In the US that is a constant reminder.

It is so expensive that Medical billing companies just send bills to see if you will pay.

A company here called Aflac, has that as their business model.

For example, when I went in for surgery my insurance covered everything.

But two months ago I got a bill listing my surgeons name on it for about $500.00

My surgeon and I shared a love of robots and Baijiu so we became friendly so I called her and she said "newp, all paid" So I ignored the bill.

Then calls came.

In the US if a bill collector calls you and you admit you did something that could warrant bill collection like "yes, I did have surgery" then they have a right to start collection proceedings. So when they call you gotta say stuff like "hmm, muh..ahh. " and then they get ticked off and say PLEASE SAY YES OR NO CLEARLY" and then say "mmuuh?" uhhh! hrmpf!" and they get pissed off and hang up.

Anyway, Aflac, does this for you. As a rep they say "It's all paid, they don't owe anymore, never contact them again or we, Aflac, a large insurance company will sue you"

So you pay a monthly premium to "take care of bills not covered by insurance" Those bills are made up bills.

In 1.5 years I have been sent bills totaling over $30,000 for something that was paid for already. Ripping off people twice is big money and there is very little that can be done, unlike if I was billed twice for one toilet during a bathroom renovation.

I am sure COVID is kicking out all kids of shitty little bills to people who survived it and to families who had a loved one die.

Always believed biggest reason for the high cost was due to more grey suits than white coats in that whole business.
Our debt industry also works differently.

That is the main reason.

Another reason is that the US is a leader in pharma research. One of those reasons is med prices are so high. Medicare pays for much of that. So if you have a toxiplasmosis inhibiitng drug that you sell for $10 a pill, medicare pays for it. (meaning tax payers) and if a company raises that price to $1400 per pill medicare still pays for it.

The US has "Socialised Medicine" we just have a dumb version of it that funds insurance companies and pharma companies.

I wonder how much money we as a nation could put into medical research if we didn't have to send aid to every fucking shithole on the planet? Or pay for Shanquia' De' Mercedes Buick Jefferson and her 5 kids?

And to be fair because the little girls here, on all sides will get their panties in a twist, that means everyone. Israel, KSA, and on and on and on. Oh, and also not literally pissing money away on dem yutes who have zero to contribute to society. Well, other than making snaark and ROB get wet.

We'd probably be on Mars right now if we, and let's be honest "we" are the working, tax paying White man, did not have to foot the bill with the "Great Society", and bail out Israel and Africa at every fucking turn.

I love how as soon as you get into an internet tiff, your tough guy “libertarianism” turns to flat out big-government socialism (in this case, a literal example of a socialist policy that the Ruskis and Chicoms would be proud of).

Nice one, comrade.

All those colored folks and the chicks working legit jobs get to pay taxes too. You'd be a liar if you told me every other white man you ever worked with was an epitome of judeo-christian work ethos. There's assholes all around.

Get off that endangered male high horse baby, you have kids, you know things are a bit different by now even if the odds are still stacked in our favour ;-)

It’s like we’re two buildings and two planes fly into us ..... every day. Over and over again.

Imagine if I bring up "Co-Morbidities" of the victims of the twin towers collapse:

"Well, I know for a fact that at least 3 people who Jumped to escape the flames were suicidal"

"Alot of first responders smoked so they probably would have died of lunch cancer at that age anyway." (wait...people have said that)

The thing is we are going to be a long term study for "Socialist" countries who will use our COVID-19 survivors as long term studies to help them treat the survivors that exist in their countries. Just how US Citizens fund pharma research that is eventually used by Socialized Medicine countries, who them reduce the price of drugs since the "Socialism" pays for it and has the purchasing power to negotiate a lower price.

About a century ago more people died of stomach cancr than liung cancer. Cigarettes were stiol gaining popularity and people ate nitrate loaded food such as bologna, hence the stomach cancer

Also before the FDA was formed people tended not to trust commercially produced food. That is why Heinz Ketchup came in clear glass bottles so people could inspect it for mold and bacteria themselves.

Teddy Roosevelt had about 1/2 of his "Rough Riders" die from canned, tainted meat that was purchased through a US Army approved vendor, and according to his writing watching them die slowly in front of him was worse than anything that happened in warfare and Caveat Emptor was pretty much official policy, even for government contractors who supplied tainted food.

That was one reason why he was so quick to sign the Clean Food and Drug Act of 1906. The other reason is that in 1902 a Diptheria treatment was used on Children in St. Louis that ended up killing them with Tetanus. Apparently a Diptheria anti-Toxin was derived from a horse that had a Tetanus infection.

It would not surprise me at all to learn that producers of shitty foods that were put out of business by that act used their money to invest in cigarette tobacco.
