Been that way for years. I remember folks here talking about sitting out the Bush terms in Canada. Most of the western world would be happy it they were able to vote for competent politicians and on issues. This debacle will take some air out of populism's sails IMO but it will always be easy to appeal to certain sentiments and hawk easy solutions for complex situations.
