From what I have heard from people who know people. Take that with whatever sized grain of salt you choose since it is basically "A guy on the internet knows a guy who knows a guy who says Guilliani drinks until he craps himself / wets himself."

Hell, if consuming alcohol until you lose control of your bodily functions is wrong, I don't want to be right...

OT: I like to kick an elderly man when he is down as much as the next guy, but do we have to resort to bringing up substance abuse or mental health issues when talking about a previously elected lawyer embroiled in what looks to be a pretty juicy political scandal?

Yes.

If you want to be a public official then both are very relevant.

Perhaps politicians are better off being tee-totallers. Yep, it is a juicy political scandal but I bet you somewhere down the line the drink began getting the better of him, leading to where he finds himself now. Politicians get comped the best tables at the best restaurants all the time and take advantage of being over-served the best top-shelf liquor. Over time this affects their judgement. Then they start to get sloppy. Then they get caught. Then they go to prison.

I bet Mitt Romney could have used a drink after getting booed by his own GOP in his own state. The poor bastard.

Come to think of it I don’t think any of our Presidents since Nixon have been big drinkers, not that Giuliani was ever President but he would have wanted to be. Nixon was known to pretty much stay drunk towards the end of his aborted 2nd term, the Watergate days. LBJ probably enjoyed his cocktails but my hunch is he could hold his liquor. Was JFK a drinker? Irish-Catholic JFK? He may have been an anomaly.
Jimmy Carter, nope. Ronald Reagan, nuh-uh. Bill Clinton, nope. George H.W. Bush, I doubt it. George Bush, not for a long time. Obama, nah. Trump, Adderall and cocaine abuse.

Obama was a beer drinker.

Brewed his own too.

As a beer brewer myself, I can say it is easy to get drunk on your own brew but you tend to not get sloppy on your own brew.

I have met a few drunks who DIY for the cost.

I have met a LOT more DIYers who just love the process.

Haven't done it myself, but I can see the attraction.

Must be a tax thing.

Local scandals involve flagrant misuse or appropriation of public funds.

The problem here in the US is we were known for our shit beer. Then it improved slightly and now it has tipped the other way but back to shit again: IPA...Not India Pale Ale the good kind but American IPA made with tons of American hops which cannot age well. (some age to taste like cat piss smells) and they tend to be 7% or higher. So I brew stuff that uses US hops that are designed to be drank quickly like UK style Mild and Bitter that are about 3.5% to 4% so I can drink alot.

Also the way to cover for the flaws of your brew is to make it strong and over-hop.

But there is nothing better than when grain converts to fermentable sugar and then add a cup of that to some scotch and drink while brewing.

I feel like I actually started having some sort of reaction when drinking overhopped beers IPAs in the mid-2010s. The serious microbrew places around here have been experimenting with sours a lot more so that seems to be the hot new trend. Session IPAs also started up in the past few years and makes for more refreshing drinking in the heat.

American IPAs are nasty. I appreciate when bars list the bitterness ratings of American microbrews.

I don't quite get the sour beer thing. Maybe I need to try a few more to develop a taste?
