Trump steals Israeli Antiquities

I like how they are still pussy footing around this with words like "But somehow the antiquities ended up at Mar-a-Lago, where they remain to this day" and "It's also unclear if Trump knows they are being stored at his residence."

They were loaned to the USA to be used in a White House Hanukkah event attended by Trump then they were supposed to be put on display but were not due to an "unspecified bureaucratic event".

Here is what happened.

Trump saw them, and he told people to take them because he wanted them, so they took them to Mar-A-Lago and kept them.

Israel wanted Saul Fox, to keep the artifacts until they could be retrieved. But a Billionaire mega-donor can pretty much do as they please. Plus Fox was one of the biggest Trump supporters with money.

The thing is if they come right out and call Trump a thief, which he is, they will never get them back in one piece and they may piss off one of the biggest donors to the Israeli Antiquities Authority, Saul Fox. So they will have to either file charges, sue or just accept the fact that Trump owns this shit now.

There’s something about the rich wanting to take antiquities that aren’t theirs to take. The Hobby Lobby family got into hot water for stealing biblical artifacts. This week the NYT had a lengthy article about a NYC socialite, Shelby White, who has been hoarding priceless and stolen treasures at her home in Manhattan. The thing is, she knew better. She’s a trustee for the Met and is their go-to person for her expertise in B.C. antiquities. It helps that she and her husband have thrown millions of dollars to the Met in donations, which is how I imagine one becomes a trustee in the first place. Never mind that her amassed antiquities were in fact looted, if it gets your name on a wing at the Met it’s all good. True archeologists probably doing a slow burn about this. They dedicate their lives to discovering, retrieving and authenticating this stuff, and then to have Muffy from UES come along to plunder it all is just too much.

Trump probably took those pieces because Ivanka wanted them. She is Jewish, ya know, and she’d get some swell bona-fide strut from having them displayed in her beige living room in their new mansion in Florida.
