You know the local Republican Party chapters taken over by MAGA are broke and only run losing candidates? Where they succeed at the grassroots level is where they fail the most because they need to have a bit of intellect.

Instead they loot local treasuries for C List Kari Lakes and scream about transexuals in sports and then they fail.

They need to pick more fistfights, elbow more opponents, depose more speakers and take over more local political parties.

The weirdo speaker they have (adopted a teen to watch him watch porn then abandoned him when he turned 18) knows a shutdown will expose them for the depraved weirdos they are, but he needs The Democrats to do it and if he averts a shutdown another weirdo who "adopted" a teenaged boy will remove him as speaker and launch an ethics probe into why he has money but no income outside of congress.

Hahaha, neither Republicans nor Democrats know how to govern. Congress hasn't passed a real budget since 1997.

What (most) Republicans in Congress REALLY want is to be the minority party so they can fund raise off of anger at the Democrats without actually having the responsibility of fixing anything. Every once in a while they fuck it up though and manage to get a majority elected.
