yo Rhah, welcome

if what mapandcompass said doesn't do it, try saving the image file as a .bmp before uploading and look at the size settings and the max settings for pics here.

If it's too big, you will get an error message of sorts. Try lowering the size settings in that case.

Also, p-bucket is evil. That is why I use it.

Some more 1911 porn. Clock wise from top left:

Springfield 1911A1 built up .45ACP
Colt 1991A1 Commander, the same from above .45ACP
Para Ordanace Warthog .45ACP
Detonics .45ACP
Colt Series 70 Combat Commander .38 Super
Image

Colt 1903 .32ACP
Image

H&K P7M8 9x19mm (can't find cheap mags anywhere. $50.00 for a 8 round 9 millie mag....blow it out your ass)
Image

Clockwise from top left
S&W 25-5 .45 Colt
Ruger GP100 .357 Mag
S&W 686+ .357 Mag
Colt Anaconda .44 Mag
Image

I love this one. I've got ammunition (7.63MM/.30 Mauser) but I never shoot it. Wish I could find one of the Chinese contract models in .45ACP
1896 Broomhandle Mauser

Well that's odd that last image keeps showing up cropped but it's not in the original pic

No shit. I'm thinking about selling mine because I never shoot it anyway. What's the going rate for P7M8s these days?

Nice 686. I love them.

Caspian only makes the parts. As you probably know, they make (arguably) the finest 1911 parts out there - and are primarily available for people (e.g. gunsmiths) who want to create finest 1911 - beyond and above anything you can purchase through Wilson, Baer, Nighthawk, etc. (which are all very nice guns btw).

The sight on this one is neither a Bomar or a Millet, but it is closest to a Millet in design. The rear is adjustable for elevation only though. Windage adjustments would require a press, but are not required anyway.

The beauty about this one is that the sight is the best adjustable sight on any combat-style pistol I have ever seen or shot. The front post fits into the rear notch perfectly using a typical target stance and the front post has a vertical white line centered on it. You can center the white line on a dime at ~50' with it. There is the tiniest of open spaces of light within the aperture - once you have it centered, you know it - you cannot be off on windage or you will easily see extra light on one side or other of the front post. Seriously - why can't ALL pistols have sights this good on them? It really doesn't take anything extra to make this happen...both sights are dovetailed in.

The balance on this pistol is (I dare say) perfect. I can hold most pistols fairly steady out to 50y, but usually there is a little waiver, but with this one, none. It's easy to hold steady. It's like you have an invisible ransom rest floating in the air that is holding this pistol in your hands. It doesn't feel any heavier than a typical 1911, in fact, it feels a little lighter - but I think the mainspring housing must be weighted or something, because you can feel a little extra weight in the butt of the pistol compared to other 1911s as soon as you pick it up - and then its like - how the hell can this be?

The grip on this one is so ridiculously perfect that when I hold it and point it at something without looking at the sights, I then look through the sights and it is perfectly centered exactly on whatever i hold it at. In other words, it points perfectly. I mean amazingly so. Seriously - it's like you pick it up and point it at something and you think it must be some sort of trick - like it's impossible, but it's true - and I guess that is the point.

In fact it really isn't all that difficult to create when you think about it - you just need the right elements of grip, weight balance and sights.

It's uncanny. I had to break it out of its hiding spot and just fondle and point it at a few things just for fun while writing this post. The trigger on it is sweet with almost no creep (there is a tiny bit at the first 1/10 of a mm or so) - it breaks a little heavy - maybe at 3-4 lbs., but its seemingly impossible to guess when its going to release.

I've had this one a while, but almost never take it out of its case because every time I do I wish my carry gun had the same attributes.

...Oh, and the most amazing two things about this pistol I haven't even mentioned yet!

Novak's on the upper left? Love 'em. Springfield made the right decision there. What is the raised? rear sight on the bobtail? - Great carry mod, by the way - keeps the butt at a more comfortable & compact angle when carrying at 3 or 4 o'clock.

That .38 super is a very sweet cartridge, and I like the way the rear site is put forward - I don't know WHY they chose to do that - but despite shortening the radius, the aperture is more precise - but that hammer/standard beaver is a web biter. Oh I do not like bloody webs! LOL...

Chimborazo: Well Blue book say 90% - 100% is going for $800 - $1200. The weirdos on gunbroker are trying to get $1799 for some, their fucking nuts! Around here in IL: $800 - $1000. The mag thing (the price) pisses me off but I'll never give mine up as I've always wanted one. I bought that 686 on a whim and have never felt sorry that I did. I'm thinking of Mag-na-Porting it. That S&W 25-5 in .45 Colt is Mag-na-Ported and there is almost ZERO muzzle flip. Not that .45 Colt is a boomer cartridge to begin with.

Woodsman: Yeah those are Novaks (Tritium front & rear) on the Springfield but I milled the slide for them. That one started life as a bare bones Government 1911A1 G.I. Mil Spec. I fit a Dlask trigger, STI sear that I restoned, Nowlin sear spring, Brown flat mainspring housing w/ a Nowlin 19Lb mainspring, Brown oversized bbl bushing fit to the bbl and slide, Brown 2 piece guide rod, Wilson extended thumb/sear safety. Frame all deburred blah, blah, blah. The grips I made out of a slab of ebony, I want to checker them but I don't have carbide checkering tools. Ebony is too damn hard to use standard checkering tools, you might get a 1/4 or 1/2 a panel done and then your cutter will be trashed . I didn't have the $$$ for a new bbl but that doesn't really matter as I shoot for minute of bad guy not the X ring. But on that note when I do have extra cash I'll probably get a fully ramped bull bbl and mod the frame for it, do the whole reverse plug thing etc etc

That's a Brown beavertail alright and I hate the raised "memory groove". Ed Brown made the best one ever called the "high sweep" that's what that Springfield has and I love it, so of course it got discontinued. I shoot with a pretty high hold and have never had a problem of the grip safety not being fully depressed. But when I fit my grip safeties I set the engaugement to 50% meaning that it only has to be depressed 50% for the trigger to be unblocked. But that's just to fit my grip style.

That Detonics is in .45ACP the matte nickel Combat Commander is the one in .38 Super. Fuckin A! I wish I had a Detonics in .38 Super, they are pretty rare. The story I got on the sight placement on Detonics is that the guy who came up with the original model didn't like carrying cocked and locked so he designed it with the slide like that so you could thumb cock the hammer a lot easier. There is no grip safety. The hammer is bobbed just enough that I haven't been bit by the hammer, but I have smaller hands.

The high rear sight on my bobtailed Commander is just a standard Trijicon tritium rear that I found in my parts box that I got......somewhere, don't remember where that came from but it still glows bright

Thanks Kurt. Like I said I really don't shoot it, pretty much just take it out and wonder what all this pistol has seen over the years.

Here's mine. I don't believe in naming them anymore, cause I get too emotional when they wear down and need to be scrapped and replaced. She drives nails just fine.
