I picked up my first Glock today. It's a 4th generation G17. I figured I couldn't go wrong with the classic. And the cool thing about the new generation of Glocks is the ambi mag release, great for me as a southpaw.

I took it out to the forest and fired 100 rounds without a hiccup, and fell right in love with the gun. I was originally looking for a G19 but nobody in town had one in stock, and the G17 was just sitting there looking mighty fine. I think I will be able to conceal the larger gun easily living in a cold climate, and besides my primary use will be for shooting shit.

I was surprised at how light the Glock is, in fact I think my Sig Mosquito .22lr weighs a touch bit more than the fully loaded (17=1) Glock.

I chased an empty plastic bottle from 8 yards to 40 yards with my first magazine, and when my shootin' was done I picked up all my trash.

Yep, and a light, a holster and at least 10,000 rounds of ammo because I suck at pistols. The .22lr pistol that I've been shooting for the last year has really helped a lot though.

I think the .22lr is the best way to learn to shoot pistols.

nice contractor set up Bearfood. My only comment is that 9mm seems to be out of style as every wants to punch fist sized holes in people at close range these days. So you know need to get a pimped out Kimber and then you need a friggin DPx HEST folder!.

Don't leave home without them :)

I like an old-school Colt 45 model 1911. You can smack someone in the head with it, and it is all metal and has no problems breaking skulls. Then I am free to shoot them in the face.

With handguns we have to always realize they are for "close quarters" fighting. So I don't like a gun that you cannot smack heads with. After all, the fight is already too close if handguns are called for. Best to have one that is a good heavy metal club also.

Or a gun that has one of these, if you don't mind looking ridiculous.

Picked it up very recently. Added the VZ Grips and some torx screws. Have a bunch of parts going to start working on it soon.

If it were a switch blade that you could operate with your trigger finger, that would be cool! Then you could still holster it like a normal gun.
