As of late, there have been complaints from US SIG shooters which indicate SIG has run into trouble with quality control.
I sadly have to announce these problems are not limited to SIG USA. Bought a brandnew SIG couple weeks ago here in Austria. Yesterday I finally found the time to take this beauty to the range. Outside appearance was great, SIG style flawless finish. Disassembly, cecking the interior, all looking great. Some dry fire drills, first bad impressions. The trigger is shit.
Not just bad, but plain shit. The double action is like 6 kilos, the single action drags on forever before it hits. Never saw anything like that on a SIG before. Loading the mags and going live. Two bullets out, and then I get the first misfire. I pull the trigger again, this time in double action mode, and the shot goes off.
I do 7 magazines, and in each I have at least 1 case of the same. The firing pin strikes too weakly and I have to pull the trigger again to make the round go off.
I call in the range master telling him "look at this shit", expecting another double-squeeze. I squeeze off the next round, and that's the end of my shooting session. The ejector fails to grab the spent brass, and whatever I do over the next 20 minutes, disassembling and soaking the whole tool in lubricant, trying different ammo, and other more esoteric stuff, nothing helps. The ejector keeps sitting in its little pit and won't move.
I feel bad about this. SIGs are not exactly cheap. I used to gladly pay the SIG premium because I knew that in return I would get a gun that performs out of the box, no second thought needed. Well. Not anymore, it seems.
Farewell picture: my last SIG in a while.
