Broomhandle and UK gun laws

Postby Aryan » Sat Nov 04, 2006 8:41 pm

Is it legal to own a C96 Mauser "Broomhandle" in the UK? I know generally all pre-1919 handguns are permitted as long as they aren't chambered for modern ammo. But what if the gun in question has recently been extensively refurbished, including a new barrel, trigger, and parts of the firing mechanism?

If I bought it, would I need to get it deactivated in order to possess it?

Deactivating a fine piece of history like that would be like trimming the edges off the Mona Lisa because it wouldn’t fit over your fireplace.
