Camera advice in Liberia

Postby quadaxial » Sat Apr 26, 2008 7:53 pm

Hi,

I'm leaving next week for a two week trip to Liberia. I'm bringing a very small Hi-Def video camera to document as much as I can, but I'm torn about which still camera to bring. I have a Canon EOS Rebel digital SLR that takes great pictures, has awesome battery life (because I don't use the screen), and allows me to frame up shots better. My other camera is an Olympus Stylus 1030 SW, which doesn't take as good pictures, but is super rugged, and tiny so I can easily whip it in and out of my pocket when need be.

I want to take good pictures, but I also don't want to look like that dude with the big camera around his neck and I'd like to be able to sneak away with shots of areas that I may otherwise get scolded at with a big obvious camera.

I just keep going back and forth in my head with the pros and cons of both. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Thanks,
Jason
