Thanks, marie-angelique! I've been reading the one or other bfc thread and worked up my nerve to chime in just recently. I never formally introduced myself (Oops): I'm a third-culture kid (which means I don't know where I'm from), born in what is now the Czech Republic where I only lived as a baby. I grew up in Germany, live now in the US but have also lived in Austria and Honduras. Currently, El Pelon and I run an NGO - we take medical volunteers to Honduras where my main job consists of patient intake - anything from interviewing/prepping patients to crowd control.

i am mighty glad you decided to come on board - i was starting to suspect you were mrs el pelon with a cat named Morpheus aka Hepatitis the Sewer Cat sitting on a kangaroo gun -
it's an honor and a pleasure, your presence increases the caliber of flag :)

Oh wow. Thanks, marie-angelique! That's very kind - now hopefully I can live up to the hype:)

As far as kangaroo guns, I neither confirm or deny that I know anything about that;)

Thanks again!

I agree with that. They're certainly resilient survivalists but their little psyches can't take very much. I find that cats have an unfortunate penchant for neuroses.

It's quite amazing that they have been domesticated at all. I tend to think they really domesticated humans to their cat-ness. They are about the only animal in the stable that has been kept for its wild traits...hunting vermin. Without them mice would have chewed up our houses and eaten our granaries long ago.

What's this third culture bollocks? Who gives a fuck where you're from - it's where you're going and who you fuck over on the way that defines you.

According to the old Greeks it's him and his three brothers that make/bring our dreams. Nice idea no?

+1 for a warm welcome to El Pelon's no-doubt-equally-good half!

Maybe but I doubt it.
Anything more abstract than body language, sheer repetition, tone and volume of voice, is beyond kitty's grasp. Gotta imprint me a new one, looks like the last one ain't coming back.

Thanks again!! I appreciate the kind hospitality, attention, compliments and tips;)

BTW, the sewer cat has been missing for 2 weeks and 2 other cats are applying for his job. I wonder what kitty soap opera has enfolded behind the scenes.

el3so, i think i had Morpheus mixed up with Orphée aux enfers (Orpheus in the Underworld) - but i could pretend i was making clever word play.
