Any Knife-Value Experts?

Postby mapandcompass » Thu Jul 01, 2010 6:29 pm

Okay BFC'ers... I feel like I've lucked out really hard today but I'm not sure to what degree. An awesome family member of mine rummaged through some old heirlooms and turned up a pair of Randall daggers (I've got an upcoming birthday? Seems kind of like... too much, but I don't think she knows much about handmade steel...)

The closest models I can find on Randall's site is a Model 2 'Fighting Stiletto' and Model 2-5 'Letter Opener/Boot Knife.' (http://www.randallknives.com/catalog.ph ... tail&id=29) I'd be curious as to what the Flag thinks these old blades might be worth, hypothetically speaking, of course.

It's pretty apparent to me that these things are fucking boss. They're certainly 25+ years old. Looks like Micarta(?) or wooden handles. I'm going to ask my benefactor if there are any more details about their history, particularly if they were involved with my grandfather's career. Obviously not to be carried, the big one simply screams "potential murder weapon," but damn what a nice addition to my (very overgrown) blade collection.

Hooray for sharp things. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the link! I'll poke around there some. I doubt I'll actually sell them... too sharp and well made for my tempted soul to part with, especially for pieces of paper backed by a treasury that is flat out empty.
