Well, sir, I might as well just admit it, and be done with it.

I'm the tinker who polished the DPx folder HSO showed you at a recent blade show. While you might take umbrage of my polish on your bevel you might be pleased on just how HSO feels.

He lost a Sebenza, and I once I heard that I wanted him to have a 'better' knife. I sent him my own DPx EDC, and he tells me that it has been in his pocket ever since. To me, that's a very positive review.

"lost" is such a final word. I prefer to think of it as misplaced.

I tuck my Sebenza away before my last flight to Kuwait and carried a mass-market folder instead. Upon my return I realized I'd put my old companion somewhere so safe even I couldn't find it.

Chico insisted that I needed to carry the HEST folder and sent one to me with the edge polished to an insanely sharp level. That's the knife I showed RYP and his staff at the Blade Show in Atlanta.

I still haven't found my Sebenza and I've gotten used to the HEST's greater weight and I have no reluctance using it for tasks around the field and house (and the edge is still like a mirror).

In like manner, I don't consider that DPx lost, rather, I'm just having trouble locating a new one!

I have a few titanium frame folders, but I am a big fan of D2. As for size, I think there's a lot to be said for folders in the +/-3.5 inch range. In other words, big enough to get stuff done, and yet not a boat-anchor to carry.

Getting to handle numerous knives as a part of my work has shown me one inportant thing. That is, lots of folks think they want Excalibur. I have found that I need a jackknife.

Mr. Pelton, start crankin' out the Generation II models, I'll be the first in line!

ditto. Even when there is always a folder in my pocket and most of the time a fixed blade at my hip during the work week, the small vic SAK is always in one of my pockets. Slim 2" blade and a flat screwdriver/bottle opener, also a couple of saks in the truck.

First of all that Rolls Royce polish job on the HEST was pretty damn impressive. D2 is a good steel and those who use knives to actually cut can tell the different between the different hard tool steels. The type of sharp is important. I like the more ridged machine polish but I had one of my HEST's taken up to mirror polish with a 1200 grit and I was afraid to actually use the samurai quality edge.

The 2.0's are coming in August. Each knife is tested and tested so it takes a while for them to get stacked up in volume. Watch for a big splash in September Tactical Knives

Using waterstones first, and then paste and glass you can get a polish to about 7000. As Mike probably told you, Ken Schwartz has turned me on to chosera stones, and cBNP slurries utilizing balsa wood strops. I don't even let clients handle my EDCs unless I know them quite well.

People 'thumb' edges without thinking, it's a bad habit.

Edit: Below is my ZT0551, and a HEST fixed blade I did for Mike.
