...and one that can routinely if not consistently shoot 10-shots @ 100y within a 1" measurement center-center of any 2 shots.

That's my new goal.

If anyone has any experience on the matter regarding the precision capabilities of late model wal-mart special rifles, I'm all ears. I haven't owned a .22 rifle for a couple years and now I have a hankering to do some shooting.

Sounds like a fun challenge. It would likely be very easy if you removed the "new" limitation as great deals can be had on the used gun market.

If one had the materials and tools already you could always tune a cheap gun by bedding it yourself, stoning the trigger a little, cleaning up the surfaces etc. and then you would need to do some trials to find some ammo that performs consistently in your gun.

I can do that with my pistol, but wouldn't because grouse tastes better and those buggers are good tree seed planters.

I just have a bad urge to shoot a decent little rimfire. It's been burning for a while and this one gun thing is starting to really wear on my nerves.

I think I am going to have to remove the "new" thing. I found a cheap used scope that should fit my interests fairly nicely. 10-32x50mm with a 30mm tube. AO and adjustable parallax. Should work, despite its cheapness. Maybe. I hope.

I probably am lacking protein. I have been getting sick of yumming on all the sardines, tuna, chicken...I am just about ready to blast a porkie, but then I am required to spend another 19.66 (or whatever it is) to buy a license to kill 'em.

There is of course no closed season, but cough up the money, chump...

We are supposed to have a feral pig problem, which I have a great solution for, only I can't find a wild piggie to save my life anywhere around this place.

I got my doe paperwork finished and submitted however.

The ripoff artists charge $4 for the wonderful opportunity to draw a permit in this lovely county where there should be 2 permits granted per hunter with all the damned does we got around here = and then of course they restrict it to private land only...sorta makes becoming a wildlife violator tempting.

I like the old zip gun, but however, those antennna are hard to come by anymore, plus not accurate, when shooting at somebody, like an "Entitlement Person" whose benefits have stopped and are on the "Warpath" reverting back to his jungle habits.

10/22 + any scope + mount. able to shoot 1 MOA for under $200, that would be tough, used guns can be a gamble. A simple used bolt gun (a used target rifle?) with a good bore and quality ammo and you may achieve it. You may have to settle for minute-of-ditch-chicken at 50m.

Fuck no! Those things are just crappy plinkers.

If you want to make one of those pieces of shit to shoot with as good of precision as a stock Marlin 60, you have to spend another $600 on Volquartsen (or equivalent) parts.

so... a Marlin shoots better than a 10/22? I think Marlins are cheaper than Rugers. I'm still looking out for a .22, just got back from vacation and cash is tight.
