Watches

Postby SUM » Wed Aug 24, 2011 4:45 pm

Hey guys, hope everyone is still alive and well. No strays, blades or dames making you bleed. I got a quick question, more like some advice needed. I am organizing my second medical team to go down to perform vaccinations in Haiti. Foreword aside, what kind of watch do you guys wear? I was wearing a Timex simple watch last trip and that bastard stoped working week 2. So I went timeless...so to speak.

So in shortform:

A good watch, that can be read at night, doesn't attract quick fingers and not worth a million. Preferably a watch with a Face.

Thanks all

I know the law. And I have spent my entire life in its flagrant disregard.

G-shocks aren't flashy and I took one of those all over the shop for nearly a decade.

If anologue is a must, how about getting a G10 watch off Ebay. Looks are plain jane and they are reliable.

The only downside is it gains about 15 seconds a day so it's not a precision piece but close enough for most purposes.

I wear a Suunto Core. Great watch. Maybe check out one of those. Or, a Casio Pathfinder.

That should be able to be corrected to plus or minus 3 seconds. I sent my black monster back to Seiko and it keeps time better than my Omega after they got done with it. I dont have to re-set it for 2-3 months now, and then only a minute. It kept horrible time before I had it serviced.

Rolex, you can buy a used stainless one for less than 2500 and it will literally last for 400 years - and in a pinch you can sell it for a meal and plane ticket home from anywhere in the world

Even you aren't going to live 400 years and the rate you're going you'll have no kids to pass it on to, none that you'll know about anyway.
