Pheasant season opener means sales of ammunition at airport
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The start of the pheasant season in
South Dakota is creating an unusual scene at the airport in Sioux
Falls.
When passengers arrive, they can buy ammunition right at the
terminal. It's a long-standing tradition that's survived despite
increased security in recent years.
Signs throughout the airport clearly spell out that guns and
ammunition are not allowed. But once a year, on the day before the
pheasant opener, businesses can sell ammunition from booths in the
airport lobby.
Along with ammunition, hunters can also buy hunting licenses.
