All Nippon offers broadband on Tokyo-New York

May 23, 2005 - ALL Nippon Airways has introduced Connexion by Boeing-based satellite broadband on its Tokyo-New York route.
Last November ANA became the first airline in Asia - and the second in the world after Lufthansa - to introduce a Connexion service when it launched on Tokyo-Shanghai.

The service, branded ANA@AIR, is available on the Boeing 777-300ERs that have just replaced 747-400s on Tokyo-New York. The new aircraft carry 247 passengers in four-class configuration: eight First Class, 77 New Style Club ANA, 24 Premium Economy and 138 Economy. Passengers can access the Internet on their own laptops via wired or wireless connections in First Class, New Style Club ANA and Premium Economy, and wirelessly in Economy.
To work with the service passenger laptops have to be fitted with a wireless LAN card or a LAN cable.
First Class, Club ANA and Premium Economy seats are fitted with universal laptop power outlets.

Connexion-equipped 777-300ERs will be introduced on Tokyo-Los Angeles in October and Tokyo-San Francisco next March.
