Help! Need travel advice to save me from banality!

Postby quadaxial » Tue Dec 14, 2010 5:57 am

Ok, this is a strange plea. My best friend got engaged and made me his best man and I'm responsible for a bachelor party (he's more excited by that than the prospect of marriage). He loves gambling and him and his boring friends are pushing for a Vegas long weekend. This is just the mother of all banality to me and I'm desperately trying to convince everyone to try a more interesting locale out.

I like crazy places, at least different places. I'm thinking somewhere in south Caribbean like Aruba, somewhere that has casinos to suit the knuckle draggers, but also a place I can scuba and then get my friend and I to hop over to Venezuela. I figure if I'm going to have to blow money traveling for a stupid bachelor party, I might as well try to work in an interesting mini trip.

What do y'all suggest? What's a good Caribbean or other destination that features gambling, interesting stuff, won't cost the other guys a fortune to get to from Northeast US, and could possibly work in a Venezuela or other suitably interesting tag on option?

I'm looking for ideas. A dictatorial regime mixed with scenery and gambling for $400 RT out of Newark would be a dream!

Thanks in advance for any help,
Jason

Go to Colombia.
I know the law. And I have spent my entire life in its flagrant disregard.

This is true, according to my Colombian acquaintances.

Well.... maybe not much less banal than Vegas, but Costa Rica has gambling, excellent cocaine, mediocre weed, legal prostitution, and very cheap flights from the USA.

Panama City. The one in Panama, not Florida. Couple of casinos at the big hotels. Lots of good cheap food and liquor, too. And Panamanian chicks will a bachelor party right. And when you're drunk, go for a swim in the Canal.
