Austin Texas ?

Postby Devlin » Sat Jul 16, 2011 11:30 am

I need some thoughts on BBQ, food trucks, coin shops, gun shops and parking downtown.

Watch out for sniper fire from the grassy knoll.
I'm not really a proper reporter, due to the chronic lack of discipline, negligible attention span, and a certain juvenile difficulty taking serious things seriously.

The grassy knoll is in Dallas, the sniper used the tower in Austin.

Whitman was a great poet, but he went nuts and killed all those people.

Reminds me of the movie Slacker, the character in it known as Old Anarchist laments missing the incident and ustin's finest hour.

Never been and I've spent a lot of time in Texass. Mainly San Antonio and south from there. I imagine Austin is a bit different than the Tex-Mex of the south and also not your typical college town.

BBQ: The Salt Lick. A few minutes out of town, but damn good. BYOB.

Also, check out the Alamo Drafthouse. Super cool movie theater where you get served drinks the whole time.

6th street is the place to drink and party, if that's your thing.

Overall, a cool fuckin' town.

Someone else on another board said the Salt Lick, so that is one of the stops. Thanks

Book suppositories are a pain the ass location if you are a sniper.

stubbs is the shit. i was only in that city for a couple days, but it was enough to see that austin is definitely not like the rest of texas. reminded me a lot of madison in wisconsin, actually.
when they ask how you feeling
you tell em you feeling like something important died screaming
you tell em you feeling like something even more important arrived breathing
something you should probably try feeding

The cool thing about Austin is their people. Once you get there ask a few people about what you want...and there will be debates about the BBQ places. Believe it or not Austin has some of the best restaurants in the country due to the white collar invasion in the 90's. Guns...Round Rock which is just outside of Austin.
