Yesterday started hot and sunny here, clear blue sky all day until at 3pm this suddenly happened

First the sky blackened to the east and lights started to come on like it was night time

Five minutes later:

Five minutes after that:

Now THAT'S what you call a rainstorm :-)

The thunder & lightning were awesome, I couldn't manage to capture it fully

I have to say I love the look of the harbor. Cleanish third world, colonial and then modern containerized shipping port all in view. Harbors and Markets are what really says a lot about the country, airports are a fairly useless gauge these days unless it is a really horrid place.

As Asian cities go it's a pretty attractive one in places. Beggars and tuk tuk drivers fuck off after the first "No thanks", so they can't be too tight for money

Do they still have checkpoints everywhere, closed streets, and random pat-down points or is security a little lessened since the formal end of the war?

Cool. Seems things are definitely looking up there even w/ their future 'president for life'. Are you going to get to the north at all?

I was more referring to Jaffna but seems you've left SL for greener pastures. And by pastures I mean sheep-fuckers instead of violent Buddhists ;-)
