Weekend in Manila - Any tips?

Postby Athena » Tue Jul 24, 2012 6:11 am

Does anyone have suggestions for enjoying a couple of days around Metro Manila? Sights to see or outfitters for a day trip of relaxed mountain biking perhaps? A restaurant not to be missed?

Any tips are appreciated. Tips on what to avoid are welcome as well.

Try the sisig when you are there, I really enjoyed it
Harbour Square nest to the ASEAN Garden had a bunch of places to eat that looked good
leave Manila as soon as possible, that's my best tip

there was a place in the Red Light area that had midget boxing...if that's any help

If you are close to the airport, you can always hop on a plane and go someplace else.

You could try getting up to those rice terraces to the north (Banaue?).

Those look awesome though I wonder how they compare on the ground vs the aerial photos.

The Chocolate Hills look cool too but doubt could be done in a weekend:

This beauty is in the harbour, and a sight to see.

I tried ordering sigsigi and failed somehow. I will try again. Seems that Manila is great as a hub, and it is very comfortable and familiar feeling for that purpose.

Thanks for the tips!

My fella took the job so now I have 24 months in Manila. So next I find cool things to do on weekends from Manila and look for work.

BTW, at first blush Manila is as you all described. I will, however, seek out and find its charm and beauty. It's got to be there, right?
