Some of the best memories you can have are associated with reading and a top travel book can automatically take you back to a particular time and a place. Share here the best travel books you read this year.....

Oh well!

I striped out the spam bit but through someone somewhere might be bored enough to answer the question.

The Sheltering Sky still resonates with me and it's been over 20 years since I've read that. Is it even a travel book?

I put up a list on the "loneliest planet" thread. Not many other folks replied as yet. Most whinged about DP5 again. ;-)

I an't say I've got a favourite but I've been reading "From the Holy Mountain" on and off this year.

I did however decide that no one was bored enough to answer questions about the best place to have a tattoo or their New Year's Resolution so hope no one feels too deprived that I've done away with our latest spammer.

For the record I've finally bought the book JITW mentioned a long time ago: Don't Tell Mom I Work on the Rigs: She Thinks I'm a Piano Player in a Whorehouse. I think its a travel book.
