I'd give my right nut for six months more of our Texas "winter". It stays between 40-70 degrees all winter and I'm loving it. Summer lasts too long here.

I assume you ate them? I use a power saw to make steaks out of them.

Mix some chopped onions, salt and red and black pepper with vinegar for a good stuffing and then grillem over low heat for about 45 minutes or bake them for 1 1/2 hours. Cut deep slits in the steaks to hold the stuffing.

I like the idea of steaks, but I'd just grill them with a little lemon, garlic and butter, and maybe a touch of McCormick's Montreal chicken seasoning. I imagine they taste a lot like pike, maybe a tad "fishier", but I've never had them. They are reportedly good.

We ate the 6 footer I took, and gave rest of the fish away with the exception of the big seven footer who is still at the taxidermist.

Some parts of the fish tasted great, and we had some last wendsday night that tasted like fecal matter.

I suspect we didn't clean it quick enough after catching it.

You need to be very careful when pulling the guts out. Gar get the taint as bad as any animal.

We went white bass fishing yesterday. They were not turned on at all. I caught about 12, my buddy got about 6, and the other guy got 1. We were fishing a creek and my buddy caught about a 2 foot gar on a 5.5 ft rod with 6lb test. He looked like it was having a good time.

We fish on and come back down the creek and the other guy in the boat catches the same gar. How we I know, because I took the hook out and it had a bloody spot higher in its jaw that was still bleeding.

When we were leaving geese came over to watch us clean our fish. One walked up to me hissed and bowed up. I reached down and grabbed him by the neck. I did not say anything, just calmly walked over to my two friends that where still cleaning fish. I held the goose up about head high and said "Hey, check this out." They turned around and almost shit.

I was going to break its neck and eat it, but they both used to work at a taxidermy shop and said that it would not be worth the effort. I let the goose live, but I think he will remember me next time he acts like he is going to bite someone.

They say when the Redbuds bloom the White Bass bite, it maybe a little early still.

I used to fish for Whites somewhere along the Brazos near Marlin, not to far off Hwy 6. It's been 20+ years now and the location has faded away. Good times .

And so did that, because I had to look back at the picture to see what you were talking about.

I hate to tell you, but he is married. Pretty good guy, but I noticed he shaves his arms. I never understood that. As you can see it looks like I am related to an ape.

i can guess, he looks like he does some bodybuilding, and hairless skin shows off definition better.
