Cheers folks, I'll post as many as I can take - I haven't much opportunity at present as I'm working long hours in and around Kabul, but will sneak a few in here and there

Cheers

My expert eye tells me that the bottle in the foreground of pic# 2 contains Poteen. I bet even the Taliban like Poteen.
I'm not really a proper reporter, due to the chronic lack of discipline, negligible attention span, and a certain juvenile difficulty taking serious things seriously.

Lake Qargha, about 10km west of Kabul itself. This is the place where the city folk go to relax, paddle, picnic and wash the motor. On Fridays it is packed with Kabulis who drive up in their hundreds past the Kabul Golf Course (I would love to play a round here, and get to putt on the oily greens). Smog free and with a wonderful panorama of snow-capped peaks.

Image

Qargha is the closest thing to a seaside resort you'll find in Afghanistan, it's Brighton to Kabul's London ;-)))

I dunno old boy, I always put 'em in picture editor and hit "auto correct" - sometimes they come out magenta-ish, I'm too lazy to adjust any further

Sorry I simply can't help myself :-) It's what I do, I have the luxury of time and I know yours is limited, so you understand I kid, but it's also a compulsion.

But you are right *Auto correct* does weird things sometimes.

I came to Afghanistan looking to buy on of these - a 9/11 commemorative floor mat. I picked this one up in Kabul for $30USD, note the figure falling from the left tower - nice
