Cheers Flipflop.

And here's something to maybe remind you of your outback Aus travels.

A fairly 'typical' middle of nowhere roadhouse.
Dusty, dirty, expensive fuel, crap food and bad service,,, yet always good to finally get to. (especially if you're cycling)

A well fed dingo, happy to kick back. Hanging around a homestead so, not too fussed about people.

Yes marie-angelique that's one of my bikes.
A bit of an old clunker I threw on the truck to use on days off.
Same goes for the gear, cheap bags etc not wanting to trash my good stuff like the Ortliebs by having them mixing it up with the work stuff.

Not much weight, coz it's just for trips into the bush for a few days at a time.
A bit of food, water filter, cooking gear, mozzie net, fart sack, fishing equip, etc.
Also on that trip, I needed to be able to lug it through waterways where crocodiles could be hanging, so I wanted to keep weight down to get across as quick as possible.

Fart sack is a sleeping bag. ;)
Dunno if the terminology comes from their encapsulating properties, or how they smell after you've been living out of them for a while.

Firearms - crocs are a protected species, besides which it'll be the one you don't see till it's too late that'll get you.
There may be time to mutter a quick 'fuck' if you get grabbed and that'd be all I reckon.
But they're really not that big a problem if you're doing the right things.

Some pics from The Northern Territory, Aus.

South Alligator River.
Stacked with crocs. Certainly no place for a swim. (No alligators though).

A plaque to Peter Egerton-Warburton.

His journal of this expedition is an incredible read, and made more so for me, as I read it whilst camped on the banks of the Oakover river where he sought refuge at the end of the crossing.

He must have been one hard bastard,,,and he was 60 years old when he took in.
