Great photos. By the way it's not called the Virunga park in Rwanda, it's the Volcanoes park. Glad you took the time to see the mountain gorillas, they need all the help they can get.

Yeah the different names for the park still confuse me. I think it's called Virunga in the Congo, which is where most of the (bad) news about the gorillas comes out of.

The other day I saw this neat documentary on (I think) the Nat Geo channel about the gorilla executions and finding who is responsible. It was pretty cool. They interviewed Laurent Nkunda and grilled him on why he wasn't doing more to protect the gorillas (after his merry men kicked the rangers out).

What was his response? How long ago was the interview done?

His response was something like "We took this area for its strategic value. We are doing our best to protect the gorillas"...then it cuts to footage of rebels getting very close to the gorillas and handling them (which could give the gorillas disease).

I do not know when the interview was done.
