I'd have thought that a monkey would know that that is not a giraffe trying to drink, it is a giraffe actually drinking - it's how they do it.

well my pic is an asian monkey..

but yes of course i know that's 'how they do it', the implication was that it is such a bizarre and aesthetically awkward process for them to drink that it requires concentration and actual 'trying', as opposed to the way other creatures drink. it was said in an affectionate manner.
i'm not an expert on giraffes, but i have made out with one
