Vietnam vet shows photos from his time as a soldier. A newfound friend unearthed his photos and helped him make an exhibition.

There is a great side by side "then and now" photograph of Charlie here (it is too large to post): http://chieu-hoi.tumblr.com/page/5

CBS News picked him up and did a great interview spot:

A Vietnam War photographer shares his images

May 26, 2013 9:34 AM

During his time as a photographer in Vietnam, Charlie Haughey chronicled the daily life of soldiers in his battalion. Once his tour ended, his nearly 2,000 photo negatives ended up in a shoebox, hidden away. Now, after 45 years, Haughey's mesmerizing images of men battling the hardships and ennui of war are seeing the light of day. Lee Cowan reports.

While the exact number of Canadians who volunteered for military duty with U.S. services during the 10-year Vietnam war is difficult to pinpoint, most estimates put the number at about 30,000 troops, about the same number of U.S. citizens who fled to Canada to avoid the draft.
