I am going to use some manual entry methods to transcribe this. Please give all proceeds to an Armenian, an Iraqi, or an immigrant in Chicago going to school.

Forward:Many people in the West today are not aware that the country of Iraw has a small, rightly knit population of Christians. They are of Armenian descent, and their great-grandparents were driven from their Armenian homeland back in 1915 by the Ottoman Turks. The turcks eventually engage in genocide, resulting in the death of over one and a half million Amernians. SO it was that my great-grandparents fled to Iraq, along with a good portion of the Christian-Armenian population. They quietly settled into that region of the Middle East and have lived there in the years since as "tolerated" foreign "infidels", who carry out their precarious existence within the land of Muslim dominance.

That is how I came to be born in the beautiful, but politcally turbulent city of Baghdad. I was raised in a relatively right Armenian community, attended a private Armenian school and the Christian Armenian Cathefral, which stoof with its distrinctive architecture within the heart of Baghdad's ancient city

Perhaps it was the comibination of barious stresses caused by living in an environment of poweder-keg hostility, but I knew from a very young age that my parents did not get along. While I was thirteen years old, it came as no surprise to me when their quarrels culminated in a divorce.

Less than two years later, my mother immigrated to the United States, taking my brother and me with her. We soon took up libing in Chicago, Illinois, as grateful Green Card holders and permanent residents of the UNited States.

I quickly learned to embrace American life, where demovrazy and freedom are the God-given rights claimed by all. I attended school in Chicago and used my studies as a shelter from the unhappieness over our broken family, so that I began to excel in my classes.

qwerty transcribed ill begin a new installment later.

I lived in a weird spot of the woods for awhile. its unusual where I come from to live next to two mosques, an lsd temple, a smattering of christian churches, a middle east hang out hookah bar, berburs, white trash, rich trash, poor wealth, libraries, parks, Synagogue, private park observatory, synagogue, gas stations, but no used car lots....hmmmmmm.

The Black Jacobins, CLR James.

Absolutely brilliant look at Toussaint L'Ouverture and the revolution in Haiti. It also gives a great account of the realities of the African slave trade.

War Against The Weak – Eugenics And America’s Campaign To Create A Master Race, Edwin Black

Not for the faint-hearted. An eye opening historical indictment of the arrogance of elitists. Should be required reading for free-thinkers concerned about civil liberties, freedom and basic human rights.

What about 'free-thinkers'(sic) who aren't concerned about civil liberties, freedom and basic human rights?

I don't understand Free Thinkers. People who think for themselves ? What is that ? Crazy - that's what it is. Probably subversive, too.
It seemed like a good idea at the time.

My Battle of Algiers by Ted Morgan

Author really French (changed name became US citizen) and fought in Algeria, did interrogations, and then did propaganda/newspaper work while active duty. Got to hobnob with Massu, met Bigeard, chill with FLN ladies and switched on pied noirs. Not a heavy read but interesting.

Good one. I would add "Services Spéciaux Algérie" AKA "The Battle of the Casbah: Terrorism and Counterterrorism in Algeria" by General Paul Aussaresses

Different subject matter, 3-2-1 Bomb Gone: The Fight Against Terrorist Bombers in Ulster by Steve Smith

It depends what you are looking for. There are "private" file sharing torrent clubs that specialise in sharing and seeding books for download, but with these you have to be dedicated enough to have a host computer up all the time so that you do not just leech off of them.

The other one is The Pirate Bay and then the other torrent sites as well. The most popular are current novels, and current "self help" type things but the most popular are textbook pdf files as students want to save money.

One thing I like is the Kindle and Amazon's really cheap prices for classics that range from free to $1USD. That really is what makes it a bargain and worth much more than searching for free e-books.

My only problem with classics offered on Amazon via Kindle is that the quality can vary. If they're trying to charge a buck or two, you might do just as well going to Project Gutenberg where they have been getting things into all sorts of formats.

"Hemingway's Boat" by Paul Hendrickson. Not a bad read if your are or ever were into Hemingway. His boat, Pilar, is the central character. It does get somewhat long winded and wanders in places. But also provides a lot of details of Ernie's life in Cuba not well known. All in all, a worthwhile read, I think.

One thing I do regret is not taking the time to check out Hemingway's first residence in Havana...Hotel Ambos Mundos. I was too intrigued with the "entertainment".

We Did Nothing: Why the Truth Doesn't Always Come Out When the UN Goes in (Linda Polman)
A book for tea baggers? Who cares. More seriously recommended for those who understand the UN, realize the crucial distinction between the organization and its members, and are concerned about it for all the correct reasons, such as wanting to see it stronger and more effective.

Most, if not all, of the readers and posters on BFC have some travel experience in conflict areas and counties where
the UN is "working".

Can you point me to the place where, on measure, the UN has made anything better for
the indig population?

Even UNICEF is a discunctional program that serves merely as a dating service for th male UN "workers"
