For German POW's and the German population after the war it was General Eisenhower.
That part is nearly never discussed either in the US or Germany itself.

How about:

THE BFC ARMCHAIR GENERAL?

Sorry about your Dad and his experiences in a Jap POW Camp Aztec Dave but IMHO FDR and his Hitler First Policy that denied your Dad and his Unit their supplies was more to Blame than Mac

True Mac Arthur and his early actions in the Phillipines especially at Clark Field were questionable but he more than made up for it with his Defence at New Guinea and Island Hopping Strategy that saved lives were a result of observing the Criminal Waste of lives in WW1 from 1914-18 especially by Sir Douglas Haig who NVA General Giap was an ardent student of.....

MacArthur knew frontal assaults upon Heavily Fortified Enemy Positions were stupid and suicidal

MY CHOICES

LIGHT HORSE HARRY LEE AKA DEAD HORSE HARRY LEE (Moniker earned during his defeats during the War of Independence)
GENERAL CUSTER (Brilliant during the WBTS but moronic during the Indian Wars)
GENERAL MCLELLAN (Took a potential Victory at Sharpsburg and wasted it)
GENERAL BURNSIDE (Fredericksburg...Nuff SAID)
GENERAL LUCAS DURING THE ANZIO LANDINGS
General Stephen Van Rensselaer & General Henry Dearborn during the War of 1812
